Gutted because when I got home from motocross I was 18 stone 5lb's.
    Oh well, 3lb's mustn't grumble.

    That's a very heavy arse.

    I was 14st 9lb on 1/1/04 and am now 13st 5lb, which is the lightest I've
been since I was at school. *Smug* :)

*really* need to lose that 1/2 a stone again - my leathers were
    fucking tight yesterday...

I've gained a stone in the last few months without even trying.
Bought some 34" waist shorts the other day and only realised just
how deluded I was when I got home and tried them on.

Ho-hum. Just bought a new mtb and I'll be back out there burning
some lard the moment my arse recovers from yesterday's jaunt...

On that note, why do The Powers That Be seem to think that no path
is suitable for cycling unless it's surfaced and ready for grannies
armed with penny-farthings and osteoporosis, and hence such use should
be illegal until they've managed to tarmac every single rut and tree
    root?
    Bastards.

    I weighed in at 13st 4lbs this morning ... that's the heaviest I've
ever been. When I was doing lots of mt biking I was 11st 7lbs and
even that was at the upper end of my suitable weight range according
    to BMI calculators.

    84kg. Err, 13st 2? Hey, that's not bad - all this skiing's obviously
    had some effect.
I'll have to get out the 10-y-old, far too small the last couple of
years, leathers and see if I can squeeze into them...

Ah yes? I was weighed in at 84 kg on my annual fitness exam this
    morning. So either you're a skinny barsteward or I'm a fatty. :)

Well I've not been called skinny for a year or five now, and I've
pretty much got accustomed to buying 32" levis (sob)...

Horrible innit. I have got two pairs of newly new 30" 501's that are
just begging to be worn but the bastards have shrunk around the waist
    far too much.

Maybe they will come back to me when I go properly wizened.

  13. Andy wears 32" levis but him fit him a bit less, erm, 'fitted' than
yours. I reckon the skinny git could manage a 30 but he says not.

I'm sure he could too, but it seems that some people actually like to
wear clothing that looks like it was made for someone two sizes
    larger...

    14st 10lbs.

Perfect, just need to tone up the stomach a bit for appearances,
strengthen my leg muscles and work on the aerobic fitness for cycling.

    Probably put on weight.

I bought two pairs of 31" when I was in the US last year, without
trying them on. Bastard things are tighter than the 30" ones sitting
at home in the cupboard, while the locally-bought 32" are actually
    quite loose.

US inches are obviously slightly shorter than UK ones.

I'm so glad you said that. I tried on some 33", the last time I was in
the US and they buggers didn't fit. I ended up buying 34".

A millimetre here and there and by the time you add up the tolerances
there could be an inch across the same range I reckon[1]. My genuine
white antique 501 flares are a 30 but I can them on and still breathe
moderately deeply and I think they are merkin.

Three times larger in Texas I was told.

I just bought a pair of 34" 501s in the US without trying them on
and thankfully they're pretty much the same as the UK ones.

I also bought a pair of Levi 'Type 1's which I did try on and I
    ended up getting 32".
    Well they're different. Sometimes.
