Has anyone done the faro run this year?
i intend to go next year on my trike
question is: what are the roads like, are they pretty good or full of holes?
the main reason for askng is that my trike is hardtailed and on really bumpy
roads, it slows me down a lot.
    any advice welcome
    cheers

  2. Absolutely gorgeous
    Nope, they're perfect
Two hardtailed trikes went this year, that I know of, and neither had
any problems at all. Indeed, a number of very trick hardtail chops, with
serious rakes on 'em, made it happily, too

  4. Don't forget your suntan lotion, too - when people say it's hot over
there, what they actually mean is it's FUCKING HOT over there

Oh yeah, when you set your tent up, try to make sure that it's in the
shade, under one of the many trees on the site. You wouldn't believe how
hot it can get in that canvas coffin in Portugal...

    also one more question
is it reasonably flat in faro?
and can you get a wheelchair round okish (i am not expecting much to be
honest, but anything is a plus)
    cheers

  6. It depends where you camp, but 90% of the site's relatively 'chair
friendly - the 10% mostly being unfriendly due to the 'roads' being
steep enough to be a pain, although definitely not insurmountable. The
part of the site that BSH uses is wonderfully flat, but the dirt is not
unlike sand so although it's got a pretty solid crust (for want of a
better phrase), it could be a problem if your wheels start to sink into
    it

The main part of the site shouldn't be any real trouble at all. The
surface, though dirt, is solid due to the complete lack of rain and is
predominantly flat with only slight inclines. The one thing I don't
remember seeing, however, was any toilets for disabled or wheelchair
users. I'm pretty certain you'll need to be able to walk a few steps to
use the loos. Also, if you're a veggie then don't expect to eat at the
site for the entire weekend as veggieism hasn't really made it to
Portugal yet (to say the least)

One other thing, Portuguese driver's are fucking appalling. In fact, the
most dangerous road in all of Europe is in Portugal!

Other than that, you'll love it if you like the heat - and you'd be
surprised just how many stupid Brits go over only to spend their entire
time there complaining that they're too hot...

  8. We sank a Harley for that exact reason...
Just avoid the fried octopus then - not that the smell won't put you
off. Most people assume it's just 'rally bog odour' at first...

Oh one more thing - the main marquee has sprinklers in it to cool
everyone down during the day. Cover your pint when they come on! It is
    most definitely not drinking water
