Fark.

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Wicked Uncle Nigel, Jun 26, 2007.

  1. I got a call from a janitor this morning, a very pleasant lady who was
asking whether I wanted what was left of my lid back.

I asked her what happened, and she said that she'd spoken to witnesses
who saw me hit the back of a car that was "either badly positioned or
moved over", apparently without braking at all.

I then flew a long way and landed. On my head.

The lid was split in two, which would explain the cut on the back of my
    head then.

    Fark.

  5. Just as well you hit with the most expendable bit :)
It could have been a lot worse. You could be being used by Brunstroms
    mob as an aide memoire..

Indeed. Like others I'd like to know the brand and model of lid. Oh,
and does this mean that the janitors may prosecute the driver of the
    vehicle you hit?

Did the remains of the clocks from Wik's VFR ever get so mounted? I
know it was always planned, as they were about the largest
recognisable parts left, but I can't remember if it actually hapenned.

It was a Lazer Revolution. Now discontinued, apparently... I didn't ask
    for it back.
I didn't ask. The janitor was the first on scene, and went with me in
the ambulance apparently. I don't know if she's been involved in the
investigation. It sounds like the witness reports vary, so who knows
    what really happened?

Considering that Nigel is not a small bloke, and he landed from speed/
height straight on his head, I think the helmet stood up well and did
    its job as it should.

Helmets are designed to deform and collapse in such a way as to keep
the skull/brain from incurring injury, they're a 'one crash and chuck
them out' item. Nigel has no head injuries as such so this is pretty
much what his Lazer did. OK, so he got a cut, but that's a whole lot
better than a busted noggin from a lid that failed to deform properly.
You've also got to take into account that the Lazer Revolution is
basically an open face lid with a hinged chinbar - I'd say this lid
    did ok.
