FAO wet shaving types

  1. I got a free Gillette Fusion in the post today - it's got 5 blades and
another on the back for easy under-beak fuzz removal etc. and I have to
report that it's fecking marvellous! No clogging up at all and a really
smooth, easy shave. Highly recommended by one whose beard resembles that of
    the esteemed Desperate Dan.

    That is all.

Interesting facts about spy cameras hidden in shelves and checkouts to take
pictures of everyone who picks up a Gillette product, RFID tracking and
    other stuff.

  4. Errrm, yeah, right !
I think you'll find that a lot of places use rfid tags in their packaging.
And as for hidden camera's - bollocks, you're not allowed to do that afaik.

Given that razor blades are the single most stolen item from any
supermarket, it's not too surprising that they have extra surveillance on
    them.

Not that I agree in any way with RFID tags, but as far as having your
picture taken inside a supermarket, deal with it. You were on camera the
moment you got into the car park.

RFID is becoming much more popular. My company sells millions of
dollars worth of RFID equipment every year. And it's a growing business.

As for the cameras, I think it's bollox too.

  9. "Whenever a shopper picks up a packet of razor blades from a spy shelf,
SNAP! A hidden camera secretly takes a closeup photo of the shopper's
face. (And a second photo is snapped at the cash register to make sure
the product is paid for!) "

Easy to **** with their heads, innit? Keep on picking them up and
putting them down every time you pass the shelf - but don't buy one.

Or pick them all up, carry them round the shop for 10 mins, then put
    them back.

You are allowed to do it as long as it is not paed, porn or published.
But more important, if this is true, buy Wilkinson Sword products
instead and **** Gillette right up their marketing demographics.

"tags in the razor blades trigger a CCTV camera when a packet is removed
from the shelf. A second camera takes a picture at the checkout and security
staff then compare the two images, raising the possibility that they could
    be used to prevent theft."

So, get someone else to take the razor blades off the shelf for you, and pay
for them yourself at the checkout. Done incessantly, it might get them a
    bit wound up.

Way overpriced, in constant demand and easy to conceal. A pikey shoplifters

  19. I'm getting right pissed off with having to buy a new handle every
summer because Gillette don't sell blades any more to fit the one I bought
last year. So, last year I bought a Tesco three-blade thing only to find
this year that they don't sell own-brand razors at all nowadays. However,
I had a quick shufti around Wilkinsons (not Sword) and found their three-
blade razor looked very familiar. Yep, same as the old Tesco one and
somewhat cheaper to boot, IIRC. That solves the problem for this year
    at least...

Absolutely. Tesco and Gillette are shite.
Similarly to your experience, I found the Morissons blades are ok. I use the
3 blade titanium they do - in fact bought about a years worth as they
dropped the price of 4x to about £1.75 each. Feckin' bargain.
They are the intended for the powered handle but work just as well on their
    own brand stationary handle.
And the cut is pretty good and they last about as long as Gillettes too.
"Not-so-clever" Branding and market domination is all its about.
I would boycott Gillette for the very fact that they have to get Beckham to
    sell their product alone.
