    It's an R1 - Pre 2002
They had a problem with the fuel line routing from the overfill tube.
It leaks onto the exup valve when it's on it's side!!!

We had lots of them burn to the ground during Sydney Ride days before the
    problem was found.

wasnt it here where I read the story about the new r1 trailered straight
from the dealer out to the creek?

stacked it in cold-tyre-corner and suffered the fuel/exup valve fate.

Brand new r1 burnt down to the ground with 1.7 km on the clock

I dont know why all these people dont get given new bikes by yamaha?
sure the problem didnt CAUSE them to crash, but without this fault their
bike wouldnt be a smouldering lump.

Apparently the fuel tank ruptured and caught fire but that's as much detail
as I know as yet. Good thing is he only suffered a broken finger, gravel
    rash and a sprained ankle.
