The area around the Moray Firth is quite nice. See dolphins and the dunes
    at Findhorn.

Yee can't just forget Orkney. Skara Brae and the Viking burial sites and the
standing stones are rather interesting. The ferry trip over is great on a
sunny day. The Old Man of Hoy is a sight. Highland Park isn't to be missed.

You may be confusing it with the Shetlands.

When the hotel was open one could pitch a tent there and sink a few glasses
as the sun went down on a bonny summers evening.
It's the only bar I know of that kept a pet lamb.
It's the only bar in which I've seen a lamb raped by a drunken biker.
He was wearing the patch of a Berwick MC called Not the Full Shilling

It's a remarkably big country to write off like that.

In fairness, it took me several extended trips to "get" India.

I'm not surprised. You get nutters trying to set JOGLE records...

A little trip to the North Country? Sounds like the beginnings of a
plan. A 4th of July party?

Are you going to be touring Switzerland first? It would be an interesting
    experience before Scotland.

Yebbut... If I'm going to check out the surf in Cornwall, and see the
beauty of northern Scotland, it's just a bit further down the road to
JOGLE, innit? If I'm going from one end of the isle to the other, what
    the hell, why not?

The draw of the Ace is the patrons and the assortment of bikes in the
parking lot. If that's ancient history, so be it. I assume there is
someplace where bikers congregate. Out here, Alice's Restaurant, the
Rock Store, and Mother's on Palomar are definitely worth a visit, not
for the food or the establishment, but for the ambiance.
    Is this out of date?

No. Sometime in the future, definitely. I did a bit last year, but not
    the good stuff.

Did most of that last week and took in some of the Scottish Six day
    Trial.
Want to do it again as I had to take car last week.

The Old Bill were highly visible until you got north of Fort William
then it was pretty clear. I also discovered that the fastest vehicle
between two points in the highlands is a post office van.

Unmarked Plod in the Fort William area whilst the trial was on had a
FOCUS badged as an "RS" and an unmarked R1200GS but they said they had
been shipped in for the week from other areas.

That sounds good. I've thought of taking the boy. Is it set up well as as a
    spectator event?
They started to get more interested around Loch Lomond when the new road was
put in (should never have happened) and the scenery was ruined. But they
were never active North of Crianlarich. I expect they get more in for big
    events.
Strathclyde from Lanarkshire to Loch Lomond are however an utter bunch of
cunts. Always have been. I don't drive or ride in their territory any more.

Indeed but as a visiting biker to our shores, he's *bound* to be asked "Did
you go to Lands End, JoG and the Ace" and answering with "No, but I went to
The Auvache Mansion, rode along few flat roads in Kent and Essex and had
lunch at a caff near Nu Labour's HQ" is hardly likely to be what his pals
will be expecting upon his return from the Old Country. Is it?

    :

Most of those are current bt there are many more. The largest one in South
Wales is a mile from my house in Abergavenny at my local bus station.
Simple wooden shack serves tea, coffe & snacks. Hundreds of bikes there on
    a Sunday.
