    Mine's gone into Sawbridgeworth's house of pain, today with a "I don't
want it back 'til it's sorted" instruction.

Bloody thing nearly killed me several times on the way home from
Monmouthshire at the weekend; similar/same problem as previously, i.e.
/major/ hesitation under acceleration, however, this time round, we get
lovely big backfires, pops, farts, bangs when applying the beans.

I am /sooo/ thinking about ditching it come December...

    2003 R1150GS Adventure.
    Umm, December 2003.
    From Vines, Guildford.

It'd be great if it weren't for the near constant niggly faults. This
one being at the top end of niggly. I was /really/ hoping the fucking
thing would go bang at the weekend when I considered the prospect of
another 110 miles left before home and no let-up from the "comedy
    rocking-horse" routine.

Heh, I have been giving it some consideration given that I no longer
have to commute any distance. I've a stupid idea of trying to track
    down my old one...

If that is the same firm that is Vines in Rayleigh and Leigh then you
are lucky to have actually got a bike for your money. From what I here
usually all you get is an argument.

Is that the same shit it was doing en route to Spain?
Indeed. Let's be honest, it never suited you.

    Totally different firm.

I get on quite well with the Vines people in Rayleigh. Nice enough folk
who work there and I've only ever seen them being perfectly polite to
    their customers.

Snot what I here and I know from personal experience that their
reputation for charging full market price is well deserved. They left
me alone when I was in there window shopping the other week, whether
this is good or not I don't know.

You think you've got problems? My landlord has a shiny R1200GS; about
10 miles after having a major service, mere days ago, the engine
seized (thankfully not at any speed). Solid. Irreversibly. Fucked.

    Any guesses why?

They'd drained the engine, but hadn't put any fresh oil in it. Then
they had the temerity to blame him, and said he'd have to pay for any
repairs. He spoke to various people, and is now getting a complete
new engine, at the servicing dealer's expense... I may name and shame
    when I find out who.

Fair play, did he really ride it for ten miles with the oil light on? Or
    did that fail too?

This may indeed be the case. I can only assume it is they, as I got

I have no idea either way; it does sound odd, although I am assured as
to the veracity of the account.

    Ah.

Well, I'd say that, if the facts are as reported, then:

    (A) The mechanic is a TC.
    (B) The owner is a TC.

    As for where blame lies...

Actally, I'm really not sure. If the oil light *was* on, then I'd say
the owner bears a share of the responsibility. Quite a large one.
