  3. I have suggested that he should purchase a slightly better camera!

I'm sure if you ask hime for some better pics, he can borrow my camera
    and do some!

  4. *how* much?

sorry, looks a tidy example inasmuch as can be seen from the pictures, and
it wasn't a bad bike when new, but I don't really see it fetching that much.

You *are* taking the fucking piss, you know that?

A grand starting money, for something in the wrong shade of red, with a
nastily matt-blacked exhaust? I'm also assuming the utterly shite
photos are deliberate, so the great Ebay public can't see the thing
    properly.

As for your description (I've changed it into upper and lower case from
CAPS, and sorted the punctuation), here goes:

"Anyone who knows bikes will know that the RS has a top class
reputation of being the '80s two-stroke destroyer" - That's total
bollocks. It's just not true, nor anywhere near the truth. The RS was a
cracking bike, and had the legs of a lot of the four-stroke twins (XS,
Super Dream, etc) but any of the contemporary two-strokes would have
left it for dead - with the possible exception of the detuned KH250.

"All original nuts and bolts have been shined up" - I take it they
haven't been replated then, just given a rub with some wet & dry, so
they'll corrode to **** again as soon as it rains.

"The rear shocks are fine - I just cleaned 'em" - Same applies, no
    doubt.

"I have no doubt this would win at classic bike shows" - You're living
in a dream world, or you're deliberately trying to tempt the gullible.
It might get "Best In Class" in Vladivostok.

"Want your '80s Jap bike restored - contact me." - Not in a million
years, not if I wanted the job done properly.

Idiots like you are a waste of Ebay's bandwidth. You may indeed have
spent a grand on this bike, but that doesn't make it worth a grand.
What you have is a tidy near-stock RS, and as such it's worth about
£600-700, and should be advertised as such, instead of the ridiculous
    crap you've spouted.

Well, I hope your auction passes without a bid. You might get someone
even more ignorant than yourself thinking they've got a bargain, but I
    doubt it.

  6. Interesting.

I shall pass the details onto the guy who's selling the bike.

    Thanks.

OK. Apologies for directing the rant against you, then. It *might* have
been a good idea to say that it's not actually your bike/auction,
because I'm sure I'm not the only one who thought so.

And the comments still stand ;-)

Thus spake TOG@Toil unto the assembled multitudes:
I can't believe how someone who seriously wants to sell a bike could post
such appalling photos. They're ALL out of focus. I came over all queazy
    looking at them.

What's all this "happy bidding" malarkey?
You think I sit here with a stupid grin on my face if I bid on
something? It's very stressful, you know.

    TOG@Toil says...
He certainly is. TOG has had dealings with one of my customers who
restores CB250RSs and 400 Fours for a hobby. I have sold him a shedload
of old 250RS spares in the last year to help with the restoration of
another bike he's doing. He has two absolutely immaculate and properly
restored to original spec CB250RSDs, with numerous brand new genuine
Honda parts, sitting in his showroom. Even he reckons they aren't worth
    a grand apiece.
