    If they had no reserve they would start at 1p not £15.00.

    A reserve is a hidden minimum price.
    They have a starting price.

    Pedant ahoy..

    Personally, I agree with Julian. Setting a high starting price and
    saying there is no reserve is a little disingenuous IMO.

    If it's a "reserve" those bidding don't know at what point their bid will
    become a winning one.
    If the auction is not a reserve auction they have a chance of winning it for
    the start price.

    I don't disagree with your opinion,
    but would you prefer an auction with £1 starting bid
    and a hidden reserve of the minimum they're prepared to accept ?

    That to me is far more disingenuous.

    £1 start and no reserve seems to generate the best interest - and
    usually gets the best price as people get hooked into a battle early on.
