"If you decide to come and see it, there is no need for you to bring
your m8s, mother in law, dogs etc... you come alone."

That comment alone would stop me bidding, even if it was some
ultra-rare beastie I'd be searching for all my life.

Good lord. The mind does indeed boggle.

    PS: What's an ETA t-shirt?

But why the boggle? A bit excessive with the pics but it's an honest
description - I'd be more inclined to bid on that than on an auction
with a 3 line description and a fuzzy pic taken off a camera phone.

Would you really bid on a bike where "the cams have been put in wrong,
and now it rattles a bit" ?

"I am selling it because there is a slight issue with the valves.

Unfortunatly, I have misplaced the cams, slightly off... (just a tiny
bit), started the engine and heard some weird noises.

The engine RUNS, and I want to say it again: IT RUNS, as you can hear
    and see on the video
The idle is perfect, just under 1000RPM, the problem occurs when on
high revs, above 4 or 5000RPM. The engine will start knocking, you
just need to down a gear and reopen the throttle. There is a tiny
    exhaust leak too.

All you need to do to make that bike purr like a cat:
get it serviced (fully) re-balance the carbs, get those valves
    sorted."

If that was all it needed, don't we think the seller would have done
so. It's fucked, pure and simple. Probably needs an entire new top
end. Nobody in their right mind would bid on it.

Then again, on ebay there's always one...

If it was cheap enough. Better [as a buyer] to know that than "it just
    started knocking one day".

Not an example of super smooth sales patter, but you can't knock the
    guy for being honest surely?

    Krusty scribbled:
More so than the "I've put it together wrong, fucked the top end, bent
the valves and its shagged" bit? :)

As it happens, yes. If you're looking for a bike with a shagged engine,
& it's described as having a shagged engine, that's fine. But ordering
people to come alone if they want to view it isn't fine - fucking nazi.

    Krusty barfed:
True, but I wouldn't take a blind bit of notice of that if I went to
view it anyway. I'd always take along someone "who knows" & as an
independant haggle-starting-point-pointer-outer and a cool head.
