    Hi all,

Quick Question - but before I start - it's mine and I didn't nick it OK?
   )

Right - weekend was very hot - good opportunity for me to do some more
fettling on the Duke and my VF1000.

But FZR out of garage all day sunday and it got rather warm (possible
connection with what was about to go wrong)...

Went to put bike into garage and nothing - will turn over, but not fire.
Extracted key and reset Immobiliser (Ross M1). She starts, but after about 5
secs the immobiliser goes beep and she dies. Keeps repeating same farce
every time I've tried it this week.

    Me strongly suspects immobiliser...

    But...

The neutral light isn't working - although it did flicker when I pulled the
front brake lever. Oh - and there weren't any indicators t'other night...

Now - I'm a bit of a numpty with electronics - but could this be the
immobiliser - or could something on the standard loom be causing the
    problem?

Is it easy to remove the immobiliser? My classic bike insurance doesn't
require it - so I'm tempted to just bin it...

    Any help *really* appreciated!

  2. Had a similar problem with what is now Muck's FZR... And we just had the
sodding thing removed for free by the people who fitted it as it was not
'fit for the purpose'... If yours has been on for a while, I'd check first
before ripping the bastard out as if you just remove the immobiliser there's
bound to be something left in that acts as a permanent immobiliser, innit?

I'd check the state of the battery first, then check for any loose
    connection to said implement.

And *then* I'd probably bin the immobiliser.

Yeah - first things I checked - battery fully charges and all wiring
    good/fuses intact...
Indeed - I'm very rapidly coming to that conclusion - plus hearing about
someone who's immobiliser cut in at high speed/outside lane of the M4 with,
I suspect, much soiling of the riders undergarnments...

Have paged an auto-electrical type mate - who *should* have a clue (I
    hope...) :eek:/

    Have fun...

Thanks Dave - fitted about 6 years ago - so I can't really hold them
    liable...

Plus - I live in the stix - so I'd have to get the bike trailored (

    I strongly suspect it's heading towards File 13 [1]

    Have fun...
