Finally getting some usenet traffic! It's been three days, for $DEITY's sake! -- Bernie Dwyer Dump two z to reply to me *****************************
Yep - their upstream feed fell over on Sunday night. They flushed the upstream cache last night (blowing away ALL Usnet articles since Sunday night) and now we're seeing articles again. It's been flowing since about 9:30am (NSW) today. They are such dick-heads. --James ZZR250==>ZX9R __________________________________ A random quote of nothing: A couple of kids tried using pickles instead of paddles for a Ping-Pong game. i'd hate to be the devils adovate here, but servers breaks down (shit metal). usenet is a free non-essential service, so that's why they don't have a swap-in when it breaks down. the shit runs for 4 years, it breaks down.. and then they replace it. they are quite generous with it i reckon. you can access their server anywhere within the australian backbone-- you don't even have to be a direct hellstra customer (ie me) .. and it's been pretty damn reliable for the past 6 years compared to previous years before that. -f
After the number of "what's a better alternative to Bigpond's news server?" threads which have come and gone in the past couple of years I can't believe that there are people out there who still persist with them. Nev.. '03 ZX12R '02 CBR1100XX
If you are having problems with PigPond , then you can subscribe to a Free news server , NetNews-Service Uni-Berlin.DE , it has all the Ngs and aust.* heirarchies but there is no binary Ngs. http://www.news.cis.dfn.de./
