One of the interesting features of aluminium (AIUI) is that before
fatigue failure it displays *no* symptoms at all of cracking etc, it
just lets go in a big hurry. Steel, OTOH, *will* show micro-cracks
    before complete failure.

I could, as always, be talking completely unqualified bollocks, but a
metallurgist will be along any moment now to confirm that.

There's a very low mileage '98 CBR600 arrived in the local bike shop
today (unfortunately this bike shop doesn't do MOT's).

Then it's time to get rid and move on to something else. Wonder what
price I should pitch it at..

That bloody aluminium at Connections is dangerous on a bike and should

Hmm, don't know. It might be worth taking it back to the same one on
Monday if the plate arrives on time, I won't manage it tomorrow because
I need to sort the front brake out first.

Go on then, how much. Having just fitted a "not for road use" system to the
CB, which gives a very fruity exhaust note I guess I should consider it.

Ah...had I realised that then I would've got it from you. Oh
well..there's always that off-chance I might need another to go on the
new bikes exhaust. Just spotted a very nice one on Ebay for the 600.

There is a Quill on ebay atm, but I've got my beady eyes on another
type that looks the mutts nuts. Now I just need to get a different
screen, some rear-sets and replace the hoses with something decent (but
oddly enough, not with aluminium ends..).

I'm a bit disappointed that I won't be able to pick the bike up until
Monday now, cos the loan company can't get a courier here until
tomorrow for me to complete the paperwork, that then won't arrive back
at the office until Thursday (courier must be on a f*cking moped), so
the cash won't reach my bank until Monday.

F*cking Ada, I want it like, yesterday.
