Heartening to read that they're still managing to scrape together £4.6bn a
year. No wonder our roads are so good.

What appears loaded about it? The DVLA know how many bikes are
registered for use on the road and they also know how many are taxed.
If it's off the road it should have a SORN on it so the maths isn't
too difficult. Am I missing something?

Loaded. "One in five" becomes "almost a quarter", see?

One of mine isn't, but that's cos they're too disorganised to send me the
letter and I've only just had a look on their website to see that I only
need a V5 to get the new one when I thought I needed more and I REALLY need
to take a breath or use some punctuation soon <*gasp*>

Seems a bit unfair to me anyway - I can only ride one at a time!

    As an example,
    http://www.sweller.co.uk/sob/fleet.htm
only 2 machines in that lot (there's another 5 in the workshop) have
valid tax or a SORN. I'm not including the pile of logbooks for bikes in
    boxes.

So in our sample of Sussex based bikes only 15% are taxed..SHOCK!

The registered bikes not taxed and SORN declarations won't tally as many
bikes have been broken or are 'projects', predating the "if it exists
SORN it" rule of recent times. So distorts the figures.

It would be interesting to compare non-sorn non-taxed cars -v- bikes as
percentages. I know I've still got a stack of log books, mostly Triumph
2000's and Cortinas, from when I raced bangers. These would show as
    non-taxed, non-sorn.

  12. I bought my RGV without a log book. I haven't got a clue who's name it's
in, so I don't know if it's SORNd or not. I don't even know what the
    registration number was.

If it's up this way give us a shout, I fancy another trackday before

Prefer Mallory or Snetterton. I've done Rockingham and don't fancy it
again. Certainly not for £149 anyway.
