Extra Security

Neighbours called me over when I pulled up this evening to tell me
that a gang of local yobs were trying my garage door last night.

Now, I think it would be better to add some extra security sooner
    rather than later.

These kids being the type that would wreck my bike and car once into
the garge, even if they couldn't actually steal them [1], I'm thinking
of adding an extra lock or two to the garage door. What's the group
opinion on the ones that Motrax et al. do? Worth it, or would I be
better off nipping down to B&Q and picking up a regular
    common-or-garden hasp and shackle?

Alternatively, can anyone recommend a decent marksmanship course and
    source of illegal firearms :)

[1] Bike is chained down and datatagged, car is alarmed and
    immobilised (two of!)

Hunt down the nastiest looking little thug in the locale and offer him a

Been banned for some time now. Inergen and FM200 are the ones currently
used. Just set the system to discharge as they open the door that should
scare them off. A little more expensive than a burglar alarm admittedly but
    perhaps more effective.

Should make them shit themselves in the confines of a garage.

Why are they reporting this like it's new? IIRC PB ran a short story on a
similar device at least 5 years ago.....

  8. I notice the bloke is trying to say it's new. It's not - such a device
has been on the market for years.

You forgot the bit where you place an ignition coil between the battery and
    the door...

I havent got permanent power in my garage but I`ve got a Homebase shed
alarm (once the doors open you cant get to the siren etc and its
deafening). I`ve then got a garage defender which seems well made and
does the job - quite easy to fit as well

  15. I didn't realise they were that cheap. I was thinking along the lines of a
fake (but a good fake) to see if its any deterrent or if they smash it. If
they don't smash it then invest in a real one.

  20. [risk of theft from garage]
It's the sirens and flashing lights whenever you leave or arrive that
    gives the game away ;-)
