Ok, add to that the cost of :

    A used Malagutti 50 mini-bike £400
    A used Honda XL125R £1400
    A used Yamaha YZ100 motocrosser £1500
    A new Suzuki RM125 motocrosser £2500
    A new bike trailer £350
    A used Suzuki TS50X £600
    A new Aprilia RS125 £2200
Half the cost of a used Renault Clio 1.2 RN £1200

If I ever spent money on my daughter, I made sure I spent it on the
    right things.

You were doing alright until teh fucking Renault. The Dauphine was the
best car they ever made and they've been straight downhill since then.

What about the Renault 5 Turbot?
I mean the real one with the engine at the back and the flared arches,
not the poxy front wheel drive one.
That was surely the spiritual successor to the Dauphine (or Dolphin
as I called it before I learned to spell) and superior in every way.

And the early Espaces were hard to beat on a twisty road! :)

Why would I want to do that? I love having him around and at the end
of the day it's only money.

Get him signed up for the Army now. Nine short years and the hole in

Odd thing as it goes. I loved it when my kids were at home but as they
have started drifting away over the last couple of years I find myself
really enjoying the limited freedom I am getting.

I can't wait until the last one goes. He may be 20 something and more
or less looking after himself but I still have things to do for him and
he still interferes with my personal freedoms. He wouldn't eat if I
didn't put food in the cupboards frinstance.

It is going to be far too quiet in the house but I cannot wait to
experience it. Hopefully before next summer.

My son only stays with me on a part-time basis and as much as I love
having him with me, I also love the freedom I have when he's not here

My ex FiL drummed into me the phrase 'you can't take it with you when
you are gone'. I started taking notice of that phrase last year and I
have generally become more relaxed about money ever since.

No, the best car Renault made was the DS Decapotable.

  14. Yes, but these are *essentials*. More necessary than Vim and Mr. Sheen.

Actually, I know how that happened. I was arguing with a know-nothing
moron yesterday about French cars. He said they were all shit, and I
    said that they weren't, etc.
    Cor yeah. I would.

Were I to be given a choice of company car again tomorrow, I'd choose
another Citroen Picasso Diesel. It really was a nicely built and
    comfortable car

Oh aye, I cycled to work through London for two nasty winters. Feet, hands
and face turning blue. Body poaching nicely in gallons of sweat.
Each time I was late for work due to punctures (regularly) my boss would
demand to know why I couldn't take the tube like everybody else.
People just expect much greater levels of comfort these days and offices
tend not to have changing facilities.

  19. What I thought was a bastard was I gave my ex a big house, paid for, and
I got all her overdrawn accounts and bills as a one time settlement. But
because I also paid a minimum monthly amount for the kids the CSA went
for the throat. They missed but it had me worried for a while.

If someone in a different country that you only "see" on a newsgroup,
who doesn't see what you write because he has you killfiled[1][2]
affects your choice of mode of transport then you really do need a sense
    of perspective.

If they don't then you really need to stop being so childish as to
mention it, just to get a cheap shot in and "try to score a point" over
    them.

I feel like I shouldn't bother with these posts, and I woudldn't be
surprised if other people felt the same way. My gast does get pretty
    flabbered at times.

[1] this might have changed, I must admit to not keeping up on this.
[2] and possibly vice versa, see [1].
