    Good Point
    Mr. Super Monitor Electee
How did I get into a pissing match in the first place I was just trying to get
a file on here so a person who wanted to see the bike could. Then the next
thing you know I am being shot at by the wife, then she slashes the tires on
    the Ford,
and now I have some Schumck that has feelings of affection towards me
(He called me Sweetie) Trying to track down my ISP so I assume that he can
    send me flowers.
But I must tell him right up front because I am not the kind of person to lead
    anyone on.

I did not mean to make you think that I was available for a relationship. I am
happily married (to a female) and I like it. But just so you know that if my
prefrences ever do change You will be the first one I look up.
I appreciate the Sweetie comment and all but I cannot contiue to lead you on
    like this.
    I hope you truly understand
But remember be proud of who or what you are.
    We all can get along.

When I sneak in the back door, they send someone out to start ripping the
window stickers off all the cars.. Ain't that a pain in the butt... Why do
you think I have been driving the same old pickup since '90 and the same old
motorcycle since '96.. Politicians don't like me much either.. Some damn
fool democrat in Paris, Tx., woke up one saturday morning with about 15
harleys sitting in his front yard... He pulled a couple of his stupid ass
bills off the floor when he went back to Austin on Monday.. Yeah.. I have
the reputation of being a "nemesis" .. whatever that is.. I'd ride with you
anytime.. long as you don't get too friendly with Rothstein.. LMAO

I think that doing it through XP would be best I set up a group on Yahoo and
it would not take the file. (to large)
it is not a Jpg it is a video file. that is why it is so large.
if you could explain how to do it in layman terms I think I could figure it
    out.
I coud see if I could cut the bike out of the video and see what happens to it

    Thanks for the info

There's a good general list at

    http://www.faqs.org/faqs/

One of the most important is not to post binaries to groups that aren't
binaries-specific. The reason is simple: ISPs often assign a certain
amount of disk space to a group of newsgroups. When that space is full,
older articles are expired, and are no longer available.

A typical text message takes up 500-2,000 bytes. A large binary (like
the video you posted) can be huge; the one you posted was over 40,000,000
*after* it was decoded (the encoded version was bigger.) It probably
bumped *tens of thousands* of text messages off every news server around,
    due to its size.

Actually, most folks are on old fashioned dialup. I'm not, but my firm
designs web sites, so we do plenty of research about what sort of
connection (and computer) the typical user has.

But the issue really isn't bandwith to the desktop; it's storage on news
servers. Non-binary groups (like this one) often have small allocations of
space on news servers, and big binaries displace hundreds or thousands of
older messages. Folks who read the newsgroup for the first time (or who
don't read frequently) can miss lots of messages due to one large binary.

I also have roadrunner cable access. It is extremely fast broadband
service. Why can't ICEMAN just email the file to whomever wants it.
Just get the ones that want it to reply to a "Who wants the wmv file?"
Then send it email and cc everyone who wants it. That way it only has
to go out once and the rest of the newsgroup don't have to deal with the
    binary taking up bandwidth.

    Hey Albie,
Go "design things" (or ride your counterfeit mopeds)...because you
don't have a clue what you're talking about here.

    IceMan,
This is the same dribble that comes from most "end users" that try and
claim a vast knowledge of computers...but turn out only to "design
    things".

I'm just curious (since I didn't receive the file itself) how big WAS
this thing? Was it really 40megs? Dude, if that's the case, we need to
talk about DivX for ya! If you'd save the file to a DivX avi, 40megs
would be like an hour of home movie or 30 minutes of DVD
quality...depending on your audio, bitrate and dropped bits.

    O.M.G!!!!

    You've got a patent on a WEBPAGE?!?!?!

    You're a freakin' "webmaster"?!?!?!?

    THAT'S THE "THINGS" YOU "DESIGN"?!?!?!?

The only "firm" you can come up with is a self imposed erection...and
    that's only after medication!
No one gives a rat's ass about storage on news servers or how much is
    allocated for what.

What you're saying is something you heard from the grapevine at a
water-cooler somewhere or from a support tech at your ISP. You don't
have a clue how nntp is setup, how it's configured or how it works.
Then call your nntp provider and tell them to change their expires so
you're not losing messages...if you're so worried about losing
messages and someone not being able to read what you write...as if
    anyone cares.

<breaking up of the penis wars before they get started>

Ooh, a T1 line. Would that be a T1 circuit which was provisioned from
an aggregate or would that be an HDSL (or like) circuit? Also, is that
a frac or full? Who's your provider and what MTTR did you negotiate
with? What type of unit are you using to receive?
Really? I guess you just have the cheesy insults handy and hang out in
the gutter to give to others?

It seems like every time I have to trot down to the gutter for cheesy
insults, you're already there handing them out.
I'm surprised to hear you say this since you (and a few others like
Sunny) have always taken the route of "if it doesn't affect me, I
don't want to know or hear it". Now, if you're on a T1 (like you said)
    it shouldn't have affected you.

Based on your only technical referrals being "encode, decode and
uuencode" (and I think you got two of those terms from Albie just
recently), you'll have to excuse my doubting your expertise about T1
    circuits.

Good. So, does this mean you'll be leaving us too? Can we count on
your support in the vote for newsgroup "Moderator" sponsored and
    endorsed by P.A.T.H.E.T.I.C. O.L.D. M.A.N.?
