The FAQ has good information about importing a bike from foreign parts -
does anyone have experience of doing it the other way round?

In particular I have a UK registered Le Mans II and I will be working in
Germany for a few years. How much hassle would it be to register in
Germany (Herr Geusch?). Would it be just simpler to sell it in the UK
    and buy something in Germany?

Actually, the basics are simple - you "just" register them in Germany
using your UK paperwork, then get them through the TUEV inspection (like
our MOT, just better^Wmore anal), find insurance and away you go.

It's the second and the third step that'll cause you grief. First,
chances are that you'll have to go through an extended TUEV test, plus
you'll have to get the bike to comply to German C&U standards. And that
includes cans with the appropriate homologation - I SAID IT'LL NEED CANS
THAT ARE LEGAL IN GERMANY - plus the usual lights and potentially speedo
    if it doesn't have a km/h scale.

Oh, and then you find out how much fully comp insurance costs in Germany
    for a motorbike.
There *may* be another way. Email me on timo <at> the above domain.
