porl fascinated us all by saying...
Why do people have this misconceived idea that I'm skinny. I have a 33
    inch[1] waist ffs

    [1] For Ace's benefit, this is 83.82cm

That depends on whether you're male or female, obviously

  7. heh.

I took it in to be MoT'd last week. Due to it being moved and
dropped by some local scrotes, the rhs handlebar was bent.
Which I didn't notice FFS. Currently waiting for a replacement. ;-/

And then I happened across an issue of Streetfighters. I've
got this idea for a set on Renthals, removing the upper fairing,
replacing the headlight, and keeping the belly pan... A new
short exhaust, cleaned up wheels, cleaned engine...

    It's *a* plan, it's just not a *great* plan...

you and me both...well, the R65 is *so* ugly, but I've seen a few
lovely conversions (including one loon who's turbo-charged his), and
I'm aiming to end up with something like this:

    http://www.r65.org/documents/ursala.html

but with renthals rather than clip-ons and twin speed-triple style
    headlamps...

I've got a pair of gold renthals in the garage that I don't need.
You're welcome to drop in on your way to / from the EOSM and claim them.

that's the plan. I've got to (properly) fix the gear-change and get
the carbs once-and-for-all sorted out by Someone Who Knows What
    They're Doing first, though.

  12. Quite. The little bastards. Also failed on rear brake being
as effective as a chocolate fire guard, but that's fixable.
It's not really going to happen due to not having a garage to
actually do the work in, and being a lazy bastard. Somoething
similar will hopefully happen in the next 5 years though...

    it's kinda embarrassing.

    <fx: exhales>

Right. When I bought it, Nigel had fitted a Givi rack and top-box
mounting plate - all very well. *However*, I didn't really need a
top-box, and the price (the guts of a hundred quid) put me off buying
one "for the sake of it".

Anyway, I happened to be in that bike shop in Arnos Grove (1st Line or
something) on other business, and noticed that they had this little
25l top box thing on sale for 25 quid - one problem is that, although
it's big enough to take a lid, it's really intended for a scooter, and
so won't fit on the already fitted mounting plate. However, it comes
with it's own mounting plate, so sort of job done.

Anyway, I get it home, and - duh - of course the mounting plates
really are incompatible (why, Givi, why?) so, it's off with the
"proper bike" top box mounting plate, and on with the "scooter" one.

All find and dandy - 10 minute job to swap the mounting plates, and
the top box looks nice (if small) and feels pretty secure.

So, fine for a day or so, until heading along Lordship Lane I feel a
sort of "wobbly feeling from my back end". and I just *know*
instinctively that the top box is coming lose!

Anyway, "luckily" there wasn't any other traffic, and when it ends up
falling off and bouncing past me onto the grass verge, it doesn't hit
anything (only doing about 20mph too).

The box wasn't really damaged, just a little scuffed. However, it
hadn't come off it's mount, the entire mount had sheered away from the
    bike.

Turns out that the fixing arrangement for the scooter-plate wasn't up
to the stress of being mounted on the two-bolt rack thing, and the
bolts had worked their way through the plastic, and off the thing
    came.

It'll be fixable - I just need two slightly longer bolts of the same
diameter, and a couple of big ****-off metal washers.

But I haven't got around to it...
