I am not replying to your post, therefore there is no critical analysis
of it. If you want some critical analysis how about this. Restrict
your posts to no more than 1 or two short paragraphs (I only saw the
bottom half of your post because Theo snipped in his reply to it). Try
to get all the information to the reader in the first 15 seconds. Your
writing style is boorish and uninteresting enough without subjecting the
reader to several pages of it... don't call people 'chief' unless you're
    selling newspapers or petrol.

So its gone from a criticism of my posts to a criticism of my writing style.
    Nuff said.

    Short enough for ya!

Well, as I already stated, I was replying to what Theo posted, not what
you posted, so why would you expect that I would have anything to say
about the content of your post? Why must you demand it? Was the
content of your post really that bad? I didn't even read more than a
few sentences of it. I thought I already made that clear. Theo gave
his critical analysis of some of it. Surely that's sufficient? Are you
just trolling for an argument? Perhaps you'd do better to ask Theo to
    give it another go, instead.

Alright, maybe I was being oversensitive, but to me your comment to Theo of

"You're not going to survive forever using just luck, Theo. You better get
out and do some emergency braking practice, and throw in a bit of preparing
for emergency braking practice while you're at it."

Is a pretty clear shot at my previous remarks. If I read your intent wrong,
I'll pull my head in, but I don't think I did. I've got no problem you
having a go at what I said, but do if what you're presenting isn't what I
    wrote.

Can we call this off now?

In Queensland they die in the hospital waiting rooms, or in Qantas check in
    lines.

Would you believe they gave us Lee-Enfields to play with, and shoot with on

    Times have changed.
My father's generation was of the opinion that everyone needed to be
educated in firearm safety from an early age. I owned my first air
rifle at about 4 yo and would proudly tote it along with dad and his
friends at duck shoots and such like. IIRC I had my first second hand
"pea rifle' (.22 rimfire) when I was 7 or 8, and certainly new how to
hit the target with the ever present .303 and shotgun before I was in
double figures (age). With all of this came responsibility, and woe
betide me if I transgressed the basic rules laid down by my father.
My firearm experience was no different from that of any other boy in
the place where I grew up.
I believe current generations of kids are missing something in their
education, but I wouldn't advocate going back to the attitudes present
in the era of which I speak (40s, 50s, 60s). Society and culture has
changed too much, and I shudder to think at what would happen if
unfettered access to firearms was allowed now.

  19. Back where I'm from, starting in year 8 and continuing through to the
end of highschool, all schoolkids received firearms training, starting
with Mauser Kar98k 7.92mm bolt-action rifles and moving up to the SKS
7.62mm assault carbine... it meant that when the place went to shit in
the early 90's, everyone who wanted a piece of the insanity knew where
to go to get tooled up - the local highschool - and had the knowledge
to work what they fished out once they beat down the armoury door...

  20. Well, if you're going to have a national outbreak of homicidal
bloodlust, there's no point being half-arsed about it, is there?

(what if there's a zombie plague? Granted, cracking them in the head
with cricket bats would be a pretty Aussie thing to do, but it'd be
    nice to have the option...)
