Exhaust rebuild

I decided that the Elefant's exhaust had got to the stage where it was
blowing too much for me to ignore, even with earplugs, so I thought I'd
take it apart, repack it and re-rivet it.

However, I think the carbon fibre sleeve has disintegrated too much to
    be reusable: http://flic.kr/p/9Be9cW

Anybody with A Clue want to give a second opinion?

    Any recommendations for replacement tubes?

The tubes aren't that expensive so may as well replace it while you've
    got it apart.
Not used them but I've got this bookmarked for a rainy day -

    Troo dat.
Yeah, found that earlier. I'll have to work out if their "tri oval
    carbon tube" will fit.

Cut an inch off the end and redrill it?

    You faaackin' beewteyaaah!

I've just had a struggle from hell with my old Scorpion Kevlar can.
Whilst the sleeve is only slightly foxed, the alloy endcap has defeated
me, as one of the rivets (in a blind hole) is spinning in its lair and
worse, the steel 'nail' is still in it. I thought I'd have it out with
a bit of speed, so set the drill press for max rpm and gave it one.
The rivet didn't seize in its hole, not at 3,000rpm - but the drill bit
    slid off, wedged and snapped.

I'll see what they want for an endcap. Sorted.

Well, yeah, I'd already given that some serious consideration; I
reckoned about 2" off would make life much easier[0].

But then I'd have to cut the same off the perforated tube inside, and it
all starts getting much more complicated.
