Exceedingly firm thigh

At first, I though it was a cramp in my thigh. It felt like a cramp, and
there was a little hard lump on the inside, just above the knee. As the
evening went on, however, it spread to an area the size of my hand, and the
whole thigh swole up, so that the left was about 30% bigger than the right.

At this point, I became moderately concerned.

I phoned the NHS Helpline and described the symptoms. They called me back
an hour later and said "Get your ass to A&E". By now the thing was hot,
hard and painful. This was around midnight, and no taxis were to be had, so
I called my poor, uncomplaining father-in-law, got him out of bed, and got
him to drive me to Frenchay Hopspital. I lurched into A&E like a
slow-motion zombie, squeaking with anguish at every step.

I then enjoyed an hour-long sitting-on-the-trolley frenzy, followed by a
latex glove prod, poke, fondle, grope sesh. The diagnosis was haematoma or
glorified bruise, although no-one could come up with a plausible excuse for
the late onset. I was given boxes of drugs and sent on my way, getting home
    about 2:30AM.

So now I have Voltarol and Tylex to go with the Amoxycillin. All these
drugs! I feel like a proper ukrmer at last.

I'll be bringing the thigh to the BOSM, and handing out IbT numbers, but I'm
afraid I'm going to be quite choosy about who gets to ride it.

Did you get the Voltarol after the breakage incident or for the bruise?

I've got some of those for my back - they seem to work rather well.

Ouch, think id have called an ambulance personally.
Most likely reason is youve had a vessel in your leg go pop as an injury
from the bin. Delayed yes, but not terribly uncommon.
Good thing is its the thigh so lots of room in there for blood to go into
    tissues etc and get reabsorbed.
Keep an eye on it, watch for more swelling, you may get a bit of
discolouration and if you think it is swelling more than "just a bit" then
    get advice again.
main reason being that it could be another bleed and could potentially but
highly unlikely, lead to compartment syndrome. Also, any pain in either
calf, especially if tender or swollen or hot should be looked at asap or it
could be a dvt, keep moving about mate.
Please please please watch out for the voltarol, its a great anti
inflamatory but will strip your stomach. Always take with or after food,
    always.

Mostly I don't seem to feel too much pain. This is a good thing because the
drugs don't seem to have much of an effect on me.

That was my general conclusion too.
Yup. It's settled down this morning, I can walk about okay, albeit with an
    outrageous limp...
That's what I was worried that it might be, but couldn't remember the name.
I've been walking a mile or so, twice a day, since I escaped. Slowly,
admittedly, but it impressed hell out of them last night )
Strip my stomach? Fuckin' A! Six-pack here I come!

That's one song always gets me. IIRC he wrote it when his father was dying
    of cancer.

    Sounds like a fun night.
I bet you slept like a baby.
I've gone from someone who never took anything to someone with boxes
    of drugs.

Im not honestly sure but i found this
    http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/medicines/100002792.html
one alternative to voltarol is another anti inflamattory such as brufen but
again will have similar side effects
