Sod that, go for the money.
I've never been very interested in being rich. No, really. This job is cool because a) I learn lots of stuff on Solaris, b) I work with some really nice people, c) I get to pay off all the debts from 'The Period'. Given the choice, however, I'd much rather have the holidays. There was an article in _Le Monde_ on Tuesday, concerning people like me, 'cadres' who left the private sector to become teachers. 15% of candidates at this year's CAPES, come from the private sector. They're fed up with the mentality of productivity, meetings, shares, profits and so on. Add to the fact that I think that capitalists are the scum of the earth on a par with child abusers ... I have a tough time respecting people for whom the primary motivation is money.

The Solaris job is tempting for the money, as SO is demanding a comfy bike to go on holidays, so another FJR or a Futura is looking likely. I considered a ZX-12R, but saw one at the lights yesterday, and the bint riding pillion looked about as comfy as a toad on a mushroom [1].

I hate to say it, but the VFR is about as good a pillion ride as you'll find anywhere. The Sprint ST wasn't bad, but the grab rail was a bit awkwardly situated. Either of them would be a match for the FJR in in performance terms (the trummy being more powerful then the VFR, of course) and both are significantly lighter, hence better sportier handling.
I was in Scotland last month, and bought a copy of _Bike_, the one with the VFR test, and the opinion seems to be that the new ones aren't as good as the old ones. Plus .. it's a Honda. I don't like Hondas. OK, I'll get flamed for that (and might well deserve it), but it's just a personal opinion: I don't like Hondas. Plus, Italian bikes are sexy. Or it might be an FJR ...
Dunno 'bout the Futura, but could you really get on with those looks?
I _love_ the look of the Futura. Recall also that just before buying my FJR, I had tested a Futura for a whole afternoon, and fell in love with it. In the end, of course, I plumped for the FJR and the rest is history, and it's a _fantastic_ bike (IMHO) for the usage that I got out of it. I'd buy another one in a minute, but it's expensive. One thing that's sure, however, is that SO would be comfy. She's so looking forward to my having a bike, that she's offered to cough up 50% of the cost. :-) When we came to Scotland in May, we hired a car at Prestwick and did the B&B thing as far North as Inverness. She says that the countryside is the best she's ever seen (and this is someone who speaks five languages, has lived in five countries, and has used a 30-page passport in the last 36 months), and kept saying, 'Imagine if we had ridden up that pass on your motorcycle ..'
