Does this mean you can't be French?

Surely that would imply he isn't at the moment...?

Since you failed more than one, is a failium or a failia?

Teacher training. Composition in English, in French, two translations
(one either way). Got France's second-highest mark for composition in
French, but the English one was shite: I hadn't read the book [1]. SO
passed with flying colours and has the oral exams in Toulouse on 21-23
    of this month.

Ah well ... next year, perhaps.

Ach. Rats. Are the excellent French results fungible into any other part
of the Civil Service, or are the exams specific to teaching? Anyone other
than a Civil Service [*any* Civil Service] would leap at the talent and
apply it elsewhere - given that your command of English is really quite good
    overall ;-)

A Failia is a Greek dish, similar to Bubble & Squeak.

  14. Arse.

I've managed to score a Solaris admin job in the Paris suburbs, pay's
three times what I'd make as a teacher. Or I can go back to teaching
after the hols, with the same status as I had before the exams ('contract-
    uel'). Less money, but mega-holidays.

The Solaris job is tempting for the money, as SO is demanding a comfy
bike to go on holidays, so another FJR or a Futura is looking likely. I
considered a ZX-12R, but saw one at the lights yesterday, and the bint
riding pillion looked about as comfy as a toad on a mushroom [1].
    YKIMS ;-)

    [1] awesome arse, though

You could do worse than a late-model Triumph Trophy - cheap, comfy, adequate
    performance.

The Trophy is a man's bike. The FJR and the Futura both look like Silver
    Dream Racer wannabees.

Sod that, go for the money.
I hate to say it, but the VFR is about as good a pillion ride as
you'll find anywhere. The Sprint ST wasn't bad, but the grab rail was
a bit awkwardly situated. Either of them would be a match for the FJR
in in performance terms (the trummy being more powerful then the VFR,
of course) and both are significantly lighter, hence better sportier
    handling.

Dunno 'bout the Futura, but could you really get on with those looks?
    No, I_hope_IMS.
