EX250/Ninja 250 Mechanical question...

Discussion in 'Bay Area Bikers' started by Nicholas Weaver, Dec 3, 2004.

  1. a: Can one completely REMOVE the cylander-head cover without draining
the coolant? It doesn't look possible according to the shop manual,
but the bike's tucked away elsewhere so I can't look at it myself at
    the moment.

b: Reinstalling the cylander head cover requires the Kawasaki
Silicone Liquid Gasket and/or the Kawabond liquid gasket agent
(depending etc). Is there some generic equivelent available from an
    auto-parts store (faster turnaround)?

c: If I need to change out the rocker arm and/or cam, the manual says
you need molybdinum disulfide grease on the parts before reassembly.
    Source?

    Many thanks.

  2. If you mean the valve cover, then yes, absolutely. You'll need to
remove the bolts that secure the lower end of the radiator to provide
some wiggle room, that's all. You'll also want to remove the
right-side coil mount so you can have enough room to pull the cover
    out.
Again, if you mean the valve cover, then you don't need any sealant at
    all--there's a rubber gasket already.

The valve cover is all you need to remove to do a valve
    check/adjustment.
    Probably an auto parts store?
