Did someone on here say that low mileage X-plod cages have usually had a
cossetted life? I've seen a T5 with 64K on the clock that I_could_be
interested in as its already LPG'd and its the right money. Other than
the odd hole or two where kit was attached owt else I should be aware
of? It also mentions Police Spec, is this likely to be devoid of all toys?

I'm with Beav on this one.

Most cop stuff is utterly knackered, with obliterated interiors and zero
toys. Occasionally you'll find a good, nice car, but most of 'em are just
shagged out old wrecks that wouldn't pass muster as a minicab, never mind a
    real car.

Only stuff to go for is the traffic stuff from quieter areas, Ex -Cumbria
traffic cars seem to be ok. They've mainly avoided driving though scrote
estates at 2 am, whilst avoiding missiles. I'd still give 'em a miss though.

Last year I picked up a 2001 T5, with 7 seats and Family Pack, 68K,
with everything 'lectric, in *very* good condition for just under
    £12k.

As far as a cage for the family ( with a bit of space) you can't go
    wrong.

Mind ewe, you might prefer to go private.

What're they like to deal with? I had a look at their stock last autumn,
took a V70 T5 out for a quick blast. Very goodstock they seem to keep.

  10. In uk.rec.motorcycles, Beav amazed us all with this pearl of wisdom:
You like getting fisted up the r's then.
    Dunno. You tell me.

Not the cheeriest bunch, but very straight forward.

They deal in Volvos only, so they should know what they're on about.

I took out an extra warranty with them [1], which was worth it, 'cus
the throttle body [2] went and that was would have cost £500 GBP
    <Gulp!>

[1] Got if for £250 GBP, rather than £400
[2] Shame really, because, it was like the old YPVS yam aha with no
Power Valve. Nothing down below, then a 3K rpm, it was pretty
    spectacular.

Surely an old YPVS with no power valve would be a " ".

Having seen your missus driving it, I think you should have considered
    an ex plod car.

Something like an Austin Cambridge perhaps.

Don't buy anything that's been on a motorway, been a divisional response
car, ever driven by the CID, an armed response car or anything from the
    Met[1]

The former are all knackered - they get thrashed unmercifully, and are
generally knackered, and [1] our servicing company is crap, and cars driven
around London all their life have had it by the time they're sold.

**** no. And to be honest I don't want to.

Actually, thinking about it, I'd be happy so see you drive it, as long
as I was on the outside looking in not the inside screaming out.

From an independent observers perspective, no he doesn't.

But that's what makes you an excellent racer, and makes him an excellent
    endurance mechanic.

I'm somewhat non-plussed by this post. I've looked quite hard for the
insult, but I can't find it.
