That backplate is fucked. You need a new one, simple as that. I'm pretty
sure you can order it as a seperate item from the rest of the unit, you
certainly can with the GPZ500 clocks because I've rebuilt two sets
    myself.

Everyone has to start somewhere. Think of all the **** ups as a

  4. Exactly, you did cakes, I was annoying and Nigel did things with wheel
spindles. Everything got done one way or another.

Isn't this always the way? Who knows what opportunities were also

What cakes? I don't remember any cakes. This must have been one I
    missed.

I suppose I have given away a few things like mobile phones and only
this week driven (over 500 miles) to Leicester and back with SeanH to
assist him in picking up his bike with Muck's help for just the cost
of the petrol... So yes, I suppose people do help other people out
but in their own ways. Those are the physical things, but what UKRM
is quote hot on is advice. I've given advice on insurance cock-ups,
travel, IT and other bollocks that I suppose could be termed as
valuable to people that Don't Know but is just general knowledge in my
area of experience which I'm happy to share with others.

How deep. Must be time for bed again.

Nah, that was done a while back and all he did was flounce.

Besides Bonwick, Ace, et al would be straight on me neck for suggesting
that not getting the bike trick on day one was some sort of elitist
heresy and I try to stay away from that sort of shit.

I got Alford Bros. to get me a quote to completely fix up the ER-5 in
April when I threw it down the road but appear to have thrown the
piece of paper away. IIRC it listed each individual part of the
clocks and they added up to over £600 on their own (cost to fix whole
bike and clocks was just under a grand) but I might have it on a
    spreadsheet somewhere. <rummage, rummage>

    £166.51 Speedometer
    £151.79 Tacho
    £87.76 Meter Fuel
    £43.92 Cover Meter Lower
    £54.18 Cover Meter Upper
    £57.29 Cover Meter Housing
£71.13 Speed and Tacho glass + pilot cover
    £25.47 Bracket Meter

I assume that the white plastic bit that's broken is Cover Meter
Housing? Or it could be Cover Meter Lower as the Housing might be the
    chrome effect plastic.

I didn't persue Alford Bros. quote because 1) their disinterest as I
hadn't thrown a Suzuki down the road 2) they gave the impression that
they weren't interested unless I was going to claim on the insurance
and have them fix it and 3) I couldn't justify their labour cost at
    the time.

He's not keeping score, he just didn't realise that no-one else did either,
and he's jotted down a note to remind himself.

At the least I recall a banana loaf and a guinness cake I made to a
Blaney recipie. I ate some of that, I don't recall it making it to the
    track though.

If you want to say that you've got natural talent or you haven't then
do so. Don't worry about them two - they'll do no such thing, or if
they do it'll be entertaining for the rest of us.

Might be worth contacting Barton Motors to see if they've got any used parts
    in stock.

I used them when I fucked up the twist grip on the Zephyr, and they were
spot on, quick and very reasonably priced.

    http://www.bartonmotors.co.uk/

If you send them the JPEG there will be no room for error as to exactly what
    it is you need.

    Good luck
