So that's what the "new topupTV channel" is I found when I scanned the
other day. There's E4+1 now as well.

Except that it is limited hours (2pm to 11pm) so no live coverage of
the MotoGP 125 and 250 races nor of most of the practise and
    qualifying sessions.

I subscribe to the whole lot with Sky, I really don't know why. I never
watch the movies and only use it for Discovery, Sky One and Eurosport. I
must sort it when I get back.

I wonder if you can SORN Sky?

  5. I've done it - after the first year I had Sky, I cancelled because I was
sick of all the repeats on the channels I liked to watch (history,
discovery, etc). A couple of years later, I connected back up with them
and cancelled after 6 months for the same reason.

They didn't like it, but I told them to think of it this way - if they
ever wanted me to be a customer in the future, it'd be by my rules, not
    theirs.

  6. This is obviously a meaning of "free" that I've never encountered before.

    Noooo...

    Freeview is just that; free.

Top up TV is the bit you pay for like Discovery, Eurosport etc.

    'Ere, look:

    www.topuptv.com

And this is the free bit:

They don't seem to recognize my postcode, bastards. It'll be about 50USD
a month for DishNetwork so I can watch MotoGP here.

  12. So it's not freeview then -- check Subject: line!
Does it still work if you don't have a TV set?

Since when has the subject line got anything to do with the content? ;)

Only if you wear a tin hat and you live somewhere in the future.

You can still get Eurosport on the 'old' sky dishes at the moment which
    don't cost anything

I know that. However, Freeview is not free view if you want to watch
Eurosport. I thought that was worth the little dig Ivan had.

Not OK. Eurosport is part of the TUTV package on DTT [1]. Freeview
is also on DTT. TUTV is not part of Freeview. Therefore Eurosport is
    not part of Freeview. QED.

To summarise, not all DTT channels belong to Freeview.
