The merkins do the same. My sister received a summons from California for
some motoring offence in a hire car.

Did she pay it? I'd have been tempted to stick it in the bin.

That's different - the hire car company will have to pay the fine if
you don't and will just charge your credit card with the fine, plus
expenses. That's why they _always_ insist on taking a credit card
imprint/swipe, even if you're paying in cash.

Yes. Her in laws live over there so she is likely to be visiting again.

Was in Dublin at the weekend. That fag ban is great idea and strangely

That's really surprised me - along with all the other smokers in the
country. It only goes to show that most smokers aren't as addicted as
they think they are. When I'm working I can quite happily go without a
fag for a couple of hours, and the same would go for the pub. People can
nip outside for a drag if they really want.

And even as a smoker, how did you find the change in air quality
inside the pub? Was it noticeable? Was it less "pub-like" for having
    clean air?

I'm not a great pub goer, but the few I've visited have been noticeably

  19. Andy & I spent a week there recently and to me, a non smoker, it was a
helluva improvement and I'd like to see it brought in over here too.

I hate the next morning when you pick up the clothes you wore the
night before and they *stink* of cigarette smoke.

I guess that Andy will be along shortly to say it was a pain in the
arse as he grumbled about it constantly.

Tee hee, dontcha just love it.

It was most noticeable and welcome in restaurants. Noticed the bouncers in
Temple Bar were well heavy with people trying to ignore the ban.
