    Like it.
Do you spend a lot of time at Warton?
I used to see the TSR2 [1]flying round here (Preston) once
    upon a time.

    [1] Old? Who said that?

And nothing to do with the fact that they're owned by a Sairth Afrikaan?

You don't happen to know where the Vulcan is flying by any chance do you?

That 700Km range on 4365 ltrs is terrible fuel consumption(0.442
mpg?)... do they make a diesel model?

Oooooo let me see ... oh yes .. about 4365 quid ... if you pulled into
the local tesco for unleaded based on todays prices! Though I haven't
    noticed a kerosene pump?

    Umm, that _is_ the diesel...

(Jet A1 is basically diesel, innit? Or am I thinking of something else?)

In fairness, the Vulcan is neither supersonic nor reheated.

It's be fucking hoot is it was, thobut.

And since the engines fitted to Concorde were a development of the
Olmypuses (Olympii?) fitted to the Vulc...

Cor! That'd make some *proper* noise, would that.

  8. It's grounded *again*. This time a recurring problem with the brakes
means they have no spares and are waiting for refurbed units. Last
flight this year will probably be a little publicised flight back to
    Bruntingthorpe.

And then possibly to Duxford when they run out of money.

I couldn't believe how big the TSR2 was for a fighter when I got up
    close to one - massive

    Blue Streak.

    He'll be here soon....

Btw, TSR2 = Shite. If it had been any good we'd have used it but it
wasn't. The steam age has passed so get over it.

I've seen the one that's in the museum at RAF Cosford and you're right, it's
huge. Good place to visit that, my favourite price to get in too.

Yep, AVTUR is close enough to diesel that we used to run the airside ground
    generators on it.

It has the advantage of not waxing at low temperatures, making it easier to
get the gennies running on a cold winters morning, without having to set
fire to oily rags in the airbox.

Who bought them cheap when the CAA stomped on any chance of them flying
    in the UK.
Not supersonic, and do you have any idea of the difficulties they had
    getting approval ?.

That range is in subsonic economy cruise. You do NOT want to open the
taps if range is an issue.
