Freezing cold Trying to get pissed so that I may fall to sleep Didn't get pissed enough Got frozen even though I was trying to walk around with Dodger's mobile disco going Stopped trying to talk to people as I was so cold Went to tent at 2 or 3am-ish Came back out Had a wee at 03:30ish over the road Managed to get to sleep at about 4am Awoke to my own snoring at 5am 05:05 got up and had a walk around and went to loo again (why didn't anyone tell me the members entrance door was unlocked?!) and went back into tent to shiver a bit more, even though fully clothed and with gloves on 06:00 got up again to escape the Dawn Chorus of farting and had a sit down until someone else got up Best experience of my life*, and I didn't even pull. *May not be strictly true
The fact that you were fully clothed is probably the reason that you were freezing. -- Michael Hippo Keeper for the Sultan of Bling 'fot#125|twa#5|flo#10|cosoc#1|HYPO#5(temp KOTL) Ebay items: http://tinyurl.com/3wfy8 I have no desire to see a ginger arse bobbing up and down
TBH I've never fully understood the workings behind it myself. I do however know that the less clothes worn inside a sleeping bag the warmer you will be. -- Michael Hippo Keeper for the Sultan of Bling 'fot#125|twa#5|flo#10|cosoc#1|HYPO#5(temp KOTL) Ebay items: http://tinyurl.com/3wfy8 I have no desire to see a ginger arse bobbing up and down
This is indeed true, I tend to strip down to me thermals come andy and teddy time at *OSM's, and don't seem to suffer too much with the cold. At this year's BOSM I slept with a blanket over my head, which much reduced the morning snotfest I seem to have experience on previous occasions. I feel some kind of gas based heating appliance may be on the cards for EOSM, also, the Zephyr Zone mob are planning some kind of overnighter at a Triumph rally in Newbury in July which I may attend. -- Dan L (Oldbloke) My bike 1996 Kawasaki ZR1100 Zephyr M'boy's bike 2003 Honda NSR125R (Going) Spare Bike 1990 Suzuki TS50X (Patio Ornament) BOTAFOT #140 (KotL 2005), X-FOT#000, DIAABTCOD #26, BOMB#18 (slow)
Ahh, you see, even though I had a seven foot or something sleeping bag, I couldn't quite fit in it even without clothing.
Heh, it was all worthwhile. The sight of you lobbing all your new gear in the dumpster whilst the rest of us were carefully packing away Milletts finest was priceless. -- Dan L (Oldbloke) My bike 1996 Kawasaki ZR1100 Zephyr M'boy's bike 2003 Honda NSR125R (Going) Spare Bike 1990 Suzuki TS50X (Patio Ornament) BOTAFOT #140 (KotL 2005), X-FOT#000, DIAABTCOD #26, BOMB#18 (slow)
Oh holy shit.... I "made" my Mother re-arrange her wedding date to the 21st of August. She was going to get married in September and I said I didn't want to miss the EOSM so she changed the date. [1] [1] Don't know why she's got to get married anyway, she'd be better off continuing living with him "over the brush" and I doubt she's pregnant at her age... <grumble chunner sulk>
It was still highly amusing, so thanks for that. -- Dan L (Oldbloke) My bike 1996 Kawasaki ZR1100 Zephyr M'boy's bike 2003 Honda NSR125R (Going) Spare Bike 1990 Suzuki TS50X (Patio Ornament) BOTAFOT #140 (KotL 2005), X-FOT#000, DIAABTCOD #26, BOMB#18 (slow)
Because your body heat warms the air between you and the bag and the insulation in the bag keeps the heat in. With loads of clothes the bag will be a tighter fit and your clothes will touch it. You don't get the warm air gap then. Think of it like the walls of a building with an air gap in.
Thanks for the explanation. Is that like the walls of a building, curtains, central heating, bed and running water on tap?
Well, you had the BOSM in Spring, so why not just have the EOSM in Winter? -- Paul. CBR1100XX SuperBlackbird BOTAFOT #4 BOTAFOF #30 MRO #24

Even better, if said individual *starts* a thread, you miss the whole thing. Even I have better things to do than watch the inevitable cripple fights which develop in these situations. Cheeky scamp. I do get the "advantage" of reading via Mailgate whilst at "work". It saves me having to trawl through 200 - "you're a ****" - "no I'm not" posts every evening.
