That plating company I linked for RD bores must be able to do something
nice. Some plain old DIY galvanising should do though, not under any
    stress are they?

No need, dear boy. We're quite well supplied in the carbide tooling
department at the moment. 3mm's a bit tiddly, I'll have to **** about a
bit with a travelling steady probably.

An *ideal* solution would be for that nice Mr Bonwick to pop over at
some point and have a go at it. You get the parts, I get a lesson.
    Bonners gets... gratitude. :^)

Bring the same crumpet and I'll be quite happy to take over the warming
while you make us a nice cuppa tea.

Can't you get some nice big stainless R clips to suit the callipers.
    Chandlers perhaps?

I want neat. I should imagine the ones a chandler would have would be a
little too agricultural for my svelte velocipede.

That's a better solution, if I could get them long enough in a 1/8" dia
to go all the way through and still leave enough to put a small R-clip
through to retain them. The pins aren't under any braking stresses, they
just stop the pads falling through the bottom of the caliper.

That'd be nice. They need to retain a modicum of springiness to keep
them in place. I'll get a photo of one sitting alongside a rule so you
    can judge the approx size.

I believe BGN will be sorting you out.

Isn't it sad how PC's years of duty in here have been so quickly
    overshadowed by the young upstart.

I believe Brother Champion will find that the proposed crumpet-warming
is to be conducted in the garage. Since he is a nesh woofter, he will -
naturally - be found in the kitchen, thereby disqualifying himself.

Who said you've got a monopoly on this kind of thing?

I can do crumpet warming as well as any other man.

I don't do warming crumpet, I am old fashioned, I like it smoking hot.

Springiness is OK - I've made plenty of replacement springs for antique
guns and things like powder flasks. It's just a matter of going over to
my lockup and getting the molten lead bath.
