my bike was running until one day i changed the throttle cable on it.
It took me about three attempts to get the throttle cable on. after
the first attempt, i turned on the bike, it struggled a little to turn
on. Then I operated again with the throttle cable, then when i went
to lite it up, it took a while, it barely would start. Then after
the third time, I finished installing the cable like i wanted it to
work, when I went to turn on the bike, it wouldnt lite, and it still
wont lite upto now. I was guessing that I had flooded the engine with
gas. I took out the spark plugs, turn the engine over a couple times
for the gas to come out, then I let it dry. The piece of garbage is
still not working. I pulled out the carb. I investigated it alittle
bit, when i turn the carb to spray, it sqirts the gas out in a
straight line out the pump, like a water gun, I read the workshop
manual for the bike, and its says that its supposed to spray in a cone
shape mizxing the gas and the air. I believe thats my problem. The
throttle cable is not binding or anything. Let me know if Im wrong. I
must have cleaned the thing out about 4 times and it still doesnt
spray like i want it to. Im sure the bike works, I think it maybe the
carb. how do i adjust the carb to spray out in a cone shape, is there
a screw on too tight or something? Im a regular hangman, so I dont
know anything about this bike except from what I read so bare with me.
I have no money to get it fixed. Guys please help, Here, visit this
page to give a better understanding of what im dealing with, it has
pictures of the bike and a mini clip. Its a yamaha visionI need this
bike for work, I cant keep busing like this, it takes me bout 1hr and
    15 to get to work.
I appreciate you reading this. Thanks

  2. Your Vision doesn't have a choke plate like a car's carburetor would
have. It has a starting enrichener device. If you work the "choke" knob
or "choke" lever to the full ON position, you'll see where the linkage
pulls the little starting enrichener valves sideways on each carb.

The enrichener valve opens a small air passage that bypasses the main
carburetor butterfly valve. The enrichener has its own starting jet and
it sucks fuel out of the float bowl and it sucks air through the bypass
    passage...

If the throttle butterflies are slightly open, there won't be enough
vacuum downstream of the butterflies to suck gasoline through the
enrichener device. The starting enrichener device confuses the heck out
of inexperienced riders, they don't know that twisting the throttle
    grip stops it from working...

When you changed the throttle cable, you probably didn't "rig it out"
correctly. You probably don't have enough slack in the cable. There
should be a cable adjustment barrel near the throttle twist grip. You
need about 1/16th of an inch of slack, in other words, you should be
able to move the throttle cable's outer jacket back and forth about
    1/16th of an inch...

When you look at the carburetor end of the cable, the inner cable
shouldn't be tight, it should be a little loose...

Also, there is probably a master idle knob in the throttle linkage
    between
the two carbs. You can turn that knob all the way counterclockwise so
the throttle butterflies are not open at all...

When you go to start the engine, just turn the "choke" all the way on
and don't turn the throttle until the engine acts like it's going to
start. Then you can open the throttle just slightly and hold it open to
keep the engine running until it warms up. Then you can re-adjust the
master idle knob so the engine idles at the right speed...
The squirting gizmo is an accelerator pump, like car carburetors have.
It doesn't have anything to do with starting the engine. When you are
trying to accelerate and you whack the throttle open, it gives the
engine an extra squirt of gas when it doesn't have enough vacuum to
suck gas out of the float bowl...

When you have a carburetor that has an accelerator pump and a starting
enrichener device, you never want to turn the throttle handle before
you try to start the engine. You only need to turn the "choke" all the
way ON, and push the starter button and the engine should start and run
    at a high idle...

If you turn the throttle a few times before trying to start the engine,
you will just flood it with gasoline...

If the engine starts on the choke and won't run when you turn the choke
off, even though you have the master idle knob set to run at the right
speed when the engine is warm, you probably have dirty idle jets...

If you go to www.partsfish.com and register you can look at the
Carburetor parts fiche for your Vision. You might be able to get
    carburetor parts from www.oldbikebarn.com
