You think that folk who give wrong/misleading/useless advice should be
killfiled or ignored, rather than having their contribution pointed out
for what it is? If you post bollocks, expect to be called on it.

  2. Maybe not in this thread but you are confident to a degree that is not
matched by your knowledge but the force is strong in you, perhaps one
day you will realise how little you know and temper your advice
    accordingly.

The problem here is that (imo) you do post some interesting and useful
stuff over an average period of time but, as others are pointing out,
you do sometimes post some utter cack when it comes to bikes.

I post loads of shit and some choose to killfile me, others choose to
sift through the shit for the interesting or useful posts. I don't
waste my time telling people to killfile me, I just assume that some
do and if they choose to publicly post about doing so then I really
don't give a ****. You should do the same.

  5. BGN, listen to him. He speaks the truth. We all love and cherish you,
but when it comes to bikes, what you know could be written on a postage
stamp and there'd still be space for the National Anthem.

    4. What sort of Kawasaki? There weren't many air-cooled twins on
Afraid it is a GPz305. Starting to regret the purchase after reading
some of the member's opinions on these..

I drained the oil out of a Hillman Imp once, it had gone beyond black
and came out a brown muddy colour.

The woman who owned it didn't realise the oil needed changing, and it
had been in there about 5 years.

    Ugh

  8. Oddly enough the experience of ukrm and the GPz305 is split fairly
evenly between those who have owned them and those who haven't. You as
    I recall haven't.

    True for any bike.

  9. Can I take that as thinly veiled praise?

Well, they were nice little bikes. Unfortunately, they were about the
Thanks for your advice. I'd be grateful to hear about other specific
problems with the GPz305 so that I know what to look out for. I'm
    aware of the following:

    1) The oil pump is driven by a nylon cog, which wears and fails,
    leading to big problems.

    2) The automatic (spring) tensioner for the cam chain is a nightmare

Thankfully, my bike's been looked after really well, so is in good
shape. I'm hoping it'll run long enough for me to learn the basics of
motorcycling before I get a 'proper' bike. I didn't want to get
straight on a bandit straight after passing my direct access because
I'm well aware that I know little about motorcycling. I get the
feeling that you learn to pass your test, then learn about how to
    ride :)

  11. Keep your eye on the drive belt, keep a spare ready just in case. If
you feel the slightest thing like a split in it when you do your daily
checks change the bugger, less than 100 miles was how far I went from
noticing a small split to parked waiting for the RAC.

Two cylinders fell off somewhere but I never really noticed it and it
seemed quite happy to be a twin. Nothing else of note really except I
could never get the rev counter cable to stay done up for more than a
    tank or two of fuel.

All in all a very reliable little bike and great fun to throw around in
    the lower gears.

  12. Don't listen to most of he shite on here. Yeah, sure, there are some
people that know what the're talking about but most that talk of the 305
    haven't owned one.
