engine flush?

I've bought a 15 year old Kwak air-cooled twin with 12k on the clock
and am giving it a thorough going over. Would you recommend using
engine flush? It's been well looked after and the oil I drained out
    was discoloured, but not terrible.

Buy some cheaper oil and change twice or thrice at 500 mile intervals.

"Engine flush" can cause more problems than it solves. Better to just put
in some cheap oil and change any in a weeks time, remembering to drain when
    it's really hot.

I used to use engine flush regularly and never had any of the problems
people talk about, but I've heard warnings of terrible things
happening. Having said that, I've never heard a first-hand tale of one
    of these terrible happenings, either.

These days I don't bother: having never done a control test I never
knew if it helped or not, so I figured that it probably wasn't worth
it. Certainly my Guzzi's internals were spotless after 30K miles of
just using good quality oil changed more-or-less at the correct
intervals; I never used flushing oil on it.

If you have doubts about the state of the engine internals then just
run the engine for a hundred miles or so on cheaper oil and then do a
    proper oil/filter change.

  5. Don't bother mate, it is a 15 year old Quack, the oil will be out of
that and marking your passage with a thin black line on the road behind
you soon enough anyway. Just keep topping it up as needs be.

"Engine flush" can cause more problems than it solves. Better to just put
OK, I won't risk it if people think it's risky.

Have you never seen oil before it goes into an engine? Hint: It's not
    black before use.

You seem to frequently offer your opinion on motorcycling when you have
very little experience of it. I can understand why Champ would post
what he did; I've done the same. It's not because it's "time of the
month" but it's because you're relatively ignorant of
bikes/mechanics/riding but post in a confident fashion.

Many of the posters here have >25 years of fucking about with/riding
bikes. You've nowhere near this but continue to 'give advice' to new
posters when frankly you often don't know what you're talking about.

In this ocassion you had nothing to add so why bother asking questions,
you couldn't explain from personal experience what contaminated oil
    looked like in any case.

    *sigh* I was even polite.

On occasion you post stuff worth reading, just not in the bike threads.

Oh, and I really don't need advice from you on how to operate a news
    reader thanks.

  19. No that is not what his killfile is for at all. With regard to
motorcycles and ukrm, newbies, wimmin and other hard of thinkers have to
be protected from poor advice and if you are giving poor advice it is no
good having you in a killfile.
