Feck. Big money. Graham at startrights has a complete one. Problem with
making use of one is the cooling. 3 foot props spinning at x rpm are a
    tade dangerous on a bike!

Would make a cool compact generator though, with a cooling jacket on.

Heh. Well, popular science is a difficult trick to pull off, but I
thought it didn't do it nearly as well as Horizon used to cover these
subjects years ago. Way too much clever effects.

But it did raise an interesting point - what value is a theory that
    can't be tested?

  4. Well, the hope is that as more work is done on string theory,
some predictions will occur. If it remains such that nothing
can be tested then some of the more mathematically inclined
physicists will believe it if the maths is "pretty", and those
building instruments will just ignore it.

Hmm, well if they were aircraft grade titanium fixings.....

Be patient, the transmatic gets a mention near the bottom.

  15. The writer of the page has a good point about Variomatics getting a bad
press. It was quite undeserved and what could have been a useful device
for all small cars was left to die because of buyer ignorance.

Technically, I was impressed by the Variomatic and when I drove one I
    was amused at its characteristics.

There was one in the Ulster GP this year. Didn't win anything though, the
    Gixxers crushed it.
