    Hi all,

Just been out for a long late evening ride round the island's quietest unlit
roads. It's a lovely night, warmish, clear, and a full moon across the
    water.

I have had this 350 bullet for about six weeks. It is utter heaven to ride.
    It is perfectly suited to
these winding country and coastal roads and hills, handles faultlessly, has
good lights, and the sound of it gently thumping along is something else. As
with most engines it runs beautifully in the denser wetter evening air, and
is very responsive to tiny control changes.

I know I am waxing lyrical here tonight, but I have to say that in 36 years
of riding in all conditions and many types of bike, (including 3 yrs as a
london courier), this old (well new really:) enfield is giving me more
pleasure than any other bike I have owned.

Anyone who isn't chasing horse power and wants a bike with character and
which needs owner input i totally reccomend an enfield.

I am always going to have one of these in the garage, definitely!!

Eeek - I should be on my fifth crankpin now then.
Having said that, the thing ain't on the road at the moment.
Changed the main bearings earlier in the year, had all the frame and bits
    powder coated . . . . . and just
ain't got around to putting it all back together yet.

The only engine mod has been to fit a new one after the aforementioned
crankpin failure. A very common problem, from what I hear.

Have no illusions, they're fun to ride, but they are pretty crap.

I'd try fitting a lighter weight piston too, to lessen some of the
    stresses on that crank pin.

    Nope. Your previous posts had

    Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

    Whereas they now have

    Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

I suspect your newsreader is picking up the value from the post to
which it's replying and just using that. Must be a setting to control
it somewhere, but I've never used Gravity.

    Lets' get this right.

This is a new bike, as in recently manufactured. Unless they're using
the same casting techniques as 35 years ago I don't think it'll be a
    problem.

It's probably cheaper to just replace the engine with a brand new one if
    it breaks.

An Enfield is not a modern bike by any means. Don't Enfield 350s use a
plunger type oil pump and bolt up cranks? That's not modern at all, and
as for me suggesting improving things a little... why not? They already
do nice crank kits and stuff.
Seems like a bit of a waste that does, why would you want to chuck away
    something you could fix?
