i once out ran a milkfloat on my tuned fizzy, big bore kit, spannie and
filter(you know the fast upgrades!) but then i was late for work!

Oh pish tosh - I may be a product of a comprehensive education, but
that doesn't make me completely ignorant you know.

No it won't. Have you any idea how hard a gixxer pulls at 130? No,
    you don't.
Offset by the fact that the bike is a lot narrower, and can therefore
use the width of the road more efficiently.

In some circumstances. Anyway, I'm a professional racer [1] :)
If I were you, I probably wouldn't either.

[1] Won £8 for third place in the open final at Colerne in 1988.

Heh, I'd stake my luck as I'm a professional car racer: I won £20 for
the 3.0l Banger Final in 1994 and 'some' for the Van Final same year.
I've got places in other meets but £20 was the most I won.

this is a "seen blue lights behind you and accelerated, rather than
slow down" thing, then even /I've/ done it[1].

[1] most recently heading down the A1(M), seen the flashing blues, and
proceded to ****-off-filter at >120mph then fucking off into South
    Mimms.

oh yeah, that reminds me of another time - if you're ever on a bike
with no numberplate, being followed at some speed down Southbury Road
in Enfield, make sure you take a left into Ladysmith Road, 'cos 2/3 of
the way down, the road's shut off by a gate, where cars can't follow
but bikes can get through easily...

Last time I did so was some years ago, though, and ISTR I was riding a
    Honda C70 at the time...

I'm starting to question my own assertions of many years. On a twisty
back road, with good forward visibility, I *think* I'm getting down it
as quickly in the 911 as I could on the Gixxer. I know I'm relatively
better on a track on 4 wheels but it's not just that. In the absence of
a stopwatch it's hard to be sure though.

That was about six years ago, IIRC - bike tyres have moved on an awful
long way since then. As has max power, braking, etc. etc. Much more
    than car technology has.
Indeed, it did slide around all over the place. And anyway, again
IIRC, the roundabout section was actually quicker on the R1.

I would and I'm not as quick as Champ. However, a Police driver who
might have seen my number plate would get me slowing down pretty
    sharpish.

I'm not so sure about this, maybe in the mainstream and that may be your
point, but not at the extremes. Yonder new Mclaren Merc sportscar with
186 in 29 secs, ceramic brakes and a FO airbrake is fairly mind
    boggling.

Erm, I've out dragged my boss in his new Carrera 4S on the motorway
from 100[1]. I think that might be a tad more aerodynamic than a
    Skoda VRS.

[1] Admittedly he did pass me back again at around 170.

True, but assuming the rider could keep it up, a well-ridden Gixxer
though could go for so much longer between fill-ups (what was the
MacLaren's consumption again?) that it'd probably be quicker overall.
But yes, ultimately it's always going to be possible to build
something with four wheels that'll be quicker than the best you can do
with two, as demonstrated by F1 lap times being quicker than MotoGP.

Now that's quite interesting. So the Gixxer K5 should be quicker than
    the 997 Carrera S. *Phew*
