After much pondering over my priorities in life, time being short and
all that, something has to give and it is UKRM that's getting the
boot. This means some things need sorting out.

Elephant - I'm not going. Anyone want my ferry booking before I cancel
    it?

TOG tour - I've a double room booked, deposit paid, does anyone want
    to take it over?

Chimay - I'll be going, making my own arrangements, I'll see some of
you in a field in July.

I can't imagine what difference the occasional read/post to UKRM makes
to a busy life at all and only a complete financial meltdown can justify
not doing the odd weekend away.

I stopped for a few months at the start of 2007 because I was
incredibly busy at work. In actual fact though, it didn't help - if
anything, spending a few minutes every couple of hours "doing usenet"
actually helps my productivity. Kind of like a smoking break for the
    mind.
mental illness would account for it too, I think.

Heh, that's the excuse I use if I get 'caught' surfing.

I agree completely with this, particularly as work has me scouting around an
80,000sq/m building and it's good to sit down sometimes.
Well that's a bit of a given. OTOH perhaps she is pregnant again.

although it's swings-and-roundabouts, one of the advantages to being a
manager[1], who's own manager is in a different country, is that
there's no-one to "catch" me doing anything.

[1] I think I may have been a manager for too long now - I was
proofing my CV which I re-wrote last week, and came across this: "I
challenge and translate business requirements into competitive
solutions". I mean, how wanky does that sound?

    Very.
Did you produce that yourself or employ a professional script writer.

Oh, I wrote that myself. I've been a manager for 4 years and working
in and out of Marketing for 10 years now - I just can't help it.
