Elefantentreffen 2010

I'm only posting this because my understanding is that some of the
usual suspects are going so I might as well see if anyone else is
interested.

I'm not going so this is mostly guesswork but I think the plan will be
to arrive at the site on the Thursday afternoon, alternate between
getting pissed and sleeping until the Sunday morning and then head for
home.

Global warming has changed it from being a real hard bastards trip to
something of a pussy bastards jolly weekend in a tent kind of trip but
it's great fun and I'll certainly be going back in a year or two.

Don't start to think that it can't be done on near enough any bike
because ukrm regulars have been on all sorts of stuff ranging from a
400cc sports bike to a Pan European one year and from a CBR6 to a
selection of outfits the next year. Ebay would see you the proud owner
of an old K series BMW for well under a grand and they're ideal
weapons due to their good fuel range and their ability to be loaded up
with heaps of camping kit.

If anyone feels really stupid I'd be willing to sell my K100 outfit
but I need to mot it and I might not be able to do that for a couple
of months. Email me if interested because the price would depend on
who wants it and even though I'd sell it to anyone cunts would have to
pay more.

Why aren't I going? I've got something else planned and I'll not have
enough holidays to do both trips plus I've got a major down on German
plod after being told by them to leave the country asap twice this
year.

 

Are you/Adie going to keep the mailing list going, even though you're
not ?

I appear to have an MOT'd & taxed bike that covers the relevant
period ...

Adie deals with the list and she doesn't appear to be on the verge of
closing it so I suppose it'll keep running.

If you want to go back on it then you'll have to wait a week because
she's in Greece soaking up the sun until next Sunday.

I'll believe you're going when I see the pictures of you at the site.

future euro runs

I was thinking more along the lines of photos of you recovering in a
German hospital from some kind of cold induced injury.

 

Heh, that's some fantasy you have there ... and so kind of you to
wish ill on me !

ITYF i'm the one who does say he's going to do something and follow
through (Chimay, French Runs, IOM), but admittedly, never for a winter
trip ...

Frostbite doesn't hurt, I should know because I've sat and watched my
fingernails go black inside an hour and drop off a couple of weeks
later.

Well, I've been involved with the planning of two trips, both times
you said you wanted to go and both times you changed your mind. That's
got me fairly well convinced that you don't do cold trips.

 

Cold doesn't bother me. Finances and bikes of dubious legality do
though
