Not AIUI, but it sounds like the Tenere might be.

  5. He's just called. One of the wires had popped out of the reg/rec
    connector. Shite wiring loom.

And where is the Tenere made? Italy.

Anyway, dealer bodged a repair and he's made the hotel in Randersacker.

He said he was filling up and there at the filling station was a Brit on
a C90, heading for the Elefant. Didn't know exactly how to find the
site, didn't know anyone there, was just doing it on his own.

He had a thermometer tied to the C90, and it was reading -11 C.

Britain is proud of him. Anyway, plenty of time for more breakdowns
    tomorrow.

"We're not there yet...." he warned.

I hope Andy makes it there ok, but that said it would be piss funny if
the Tenere broke down again just so the C90 could get there before
    him.

Oh I think he could have sorted it out and people would have helped. The
Tenere was taken because it was bought for such things and should therefor
    be used.

Seems like it was a very simple problem anyway.

There is a lot to be said for very simple basic 1930's technology where you
can strap down a very large battery, run two new wires and travel 500 miles.

it hasn't turned a wheel since the elephant last year and he hadn't
had time to sort it. The tenere was bought for the Finland trip, if
he'd decided to do the elephant earlier the choice of steed would have
    been the chair.

last I heard he'd got to the hotel and was going to warm up in the
shower and then head to the bar.

He'll probably make it, too. That little thing will just keep running.

Latest fresh snowfall overnight (and quite heavy, to judge by
the picture he sent me of the hotel car park). Message accompanying
    pic said: "Oh ****!"
