  1. Wa-hey! Welcome back!

It was bloody excellent, wasn't it? Shame about the Tenere.

Did you pick it up alright?
I am coming to the view that the Pan is the best thing short of a
chair: most of the trip will be spent on motorways where it's a damn
site comfier than a bus to Chalfont.

  3. Nah, it was great. Seriously. What you need is a bike with a working
    electrical system. Ask Hog.

Not if you damage the cable running to one of your gloves and blow the
fuse so your kit stops working. The downside is that you get cold and
then have to repair it with a stanley knife and some borrowed
    insulation tape.

  5. Well, yes, it'll add extra load of course, but as long as it's below the
output of the alternator it isn't a problem.

It'd have to be a negative load to work on the Tenere then?

  8. What kills the original PM alternators is the shite under-specced wiring
they're wound with. A rewound alternator, using decent wire is almost
    indestructible.

  9. Certainly, a lot of small-capacity Hondas did. It was impossible to
strobe-time my old 175 twins because oil squirted everywhere. Same goes
    for the 125 singles.

I think stuff like the CX500 and the 4-pot Wings had oil-bath alternators.
