I'm currently building another Gt750 (kettle). Part of the pile of crap that
hopefuly will become a decent SOB is electronic ignition which is good.
but.... the pick up plate has KH250 stamped on it.
My question is will a KH250 unit work OK on a kettle? or will it burn holes
in the pistons or cause similar amusing catastrophe's. Anyone any clues?

Yes, they are/were sold as kits for the GT750, and were simple to fit. Mine
is now called an "electric Kettle"

It will work perfectly, as long as you get the timing right. And
assuming the pick-up plate fits in the Suzuki.

Cheers TOG, it looks like it will fit OK, the wirings another story.
The wiring bodgery reaches new heights with this one, every concievable and
some inconcievable connectors/connections have been made along with enough
tape of varying colours to reach the moon!!
That self amalgamating tape is a bastard to remove, particularly revolting
with 2 stroke and years of road crud mixed in.

Sounds like you got the bike from the same wizard who worked on the
'leccy bits on my CB450. I ended up buying a used good wiring loom on
    fleabay...

Heh. I remember fixing up a Honda CB550, and there seemed to be some
non-standard wiring round the fusebox. When I opened up the fusebox I
found a hole melted right trhough it.
