Remember how the NASA engineers said the soyuz engines could not provide
    *that* much thrust ;o)

  2. Well the Russian build most of the Yanks rocket engines for them (Delta
series). Let them build the rest.

  3. And when NASA did a first look at spec for the engines to power the
    Russian moon missions.

"That efficiency is not possible with a kerosene fuelled engine its
almost as good ad the shuttle's engines and your engines were designed
    in the 60s".

    After a demonstration.

"How many of these engines have you guys got left and do you want to
    sell them to us?"

  4. Western engineers have always looked down their noses at Russian
engineers, probably coloured by thinking of the T34, crude but effective
that it was. Truth is, some of the Soviet engineering and production was
excellent. A lot was crap, mind.

Accompanied by the sound of a chisel on slate
The Tatra 805 I've just bought is a perfect example of what the Soviets
could do when they put their best thinking hats on. I can't wait to have a
proper play in the snow with it. Almost anything with an air-cooled V8 is
    good in my book.

  8. Except it's Czech, not Russian, YTC.
A mate has a Tatra, too. Fun. Did you know all eight barrels are
individual units, and thus interchangeable? It doesn't have a cylinder
    block as such.

    The Older Gentleman () gurgled
happily, sounding much like they were saying :
As are all eight heads... and there were several different types, including
different plug sizes required... and are often mixed-and-matched on the
    same engine...

  10. Might be worse than the Porch on bends. According to legend, the postwar
American or German Army (depending on what version you read) wouldn't
let their officers drive or ride in one because of the evil handling
having wiped out a few of them.

  12. Probably all three, then. Sensible policies for a happier Europe.
