Seeding on UKNova. "An excellent Equinox about an extraordinary
    machine. The Russian Ekranoplan".

This has been a public service announcement.

    Ugly looking fucker innit?

Great on smooth water, not so great on big ocean waves. But marvellous all
    the same.

Already d/l'ing but, IIRC, I was great in a straight line but had problems
    making a turn...

The original seeder has go off-line and there's currently no one with more
than 73% to share. Could prove frustrating...
    Oh yes.

  6. I remember that documentary, and earlier this year I met a Russian
aircraft engineer who knew a bit about it. Severely strange machine.

It's down and seeding for anyone who's after it.

It's the fact it has a wake that's weird, I mean, all said and done,
    aircraft shouldn't make wakes.

At the back with the tortoises. Just finished watching it. Very good,
didn't realise they were still in development.

The Yanks should stop fucking about and get the Russian engineers to make
    the Mars mission craft.
It might look like a bean can but it will work and cost less.

<cough> I'd like to point Sir in this direction

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venera

The Ruskies had a *major* hard on for Venus at the time. But read for
yourself and decide whether it worked and costed less.

Mind you, the Soyuz launcher is a bit of a star 1,600 odd launches with
a 98% success rate. Pardon my Russian, but that's a bloody good showing.

  20. Actually, I like the way some Russian kit - including the Ekranoplane -
looks. They're straight out of Dan Dare comics. Or The Trigan Empire
from Ranger and Look & Learn.

(I suspect I'm not the only sad bastard who remembers that one with
    affection).
