Eight Days to Go!

I have the days slotted and ready to go. I have the plane tickets, the
hotel room with external doors (for parking the room) and the days
    planned out.

I'll be leaving to pick up the 'Bird next Sunday. I'll be bypassing
the rental car and will be picked up from the airport to go get the
bike. Once I check it out and make sure it's what it's supposed to be
and all the work has been done, I'll be riding it around the Tennessee/
Carolina area for that day and Monday. I'll be leaving out there for
the trip back home on the new bike sometime Wednesday.

The Throttlemeister came in yesterday (before I did) and I looked
those over. With the amount of black and silver mix on the bike, I
chose to go with the milled version giving a good look to them. They
    *should* compliment the bike nicely.

One thing that truly amazes me is how a good product like
Throttlemeister isn't well known and stocked by dealers out here. The
one's I talked to didn't ever hear of this product. When I'd explain
it was a cruise control, they'd hand me a VistaCruise....one of those
plastic hooks that go between the grip and control. Then I'd go so far
as to give them the web address and they'd look at how wonderful it
was saying "wow, that does look nice". Then they'd follow it up with
"we can order it for you for $10". WTF? I can order it myself and save
$10! I mean, I *did* have to provide the link to them! Are people
really that stupid? I ended up getting so frustrated I just called
Throttlemeister myself and ordered what I wanted. Which, in hind-sight
might not have been the best because they're located in Milwaukee and
I'm going there this week before I pick up the 'Bird. I might've saved
myself $8 in shipping, but then again, I'd also have these to tote
around and I wasn't sure if I'd have time to stop and get them while I
    was out there.

BTW, the Hurricane is going to consignment this coming week. I'll
likely ride it through the weekend, but will be looking at this being
the last time I spend on it.

Parking the room? Damn you'll drive anything.

    those do look good.
got one on the Valk, works good. Locks the throttle, I control the cruise.

    Then I'd go so far
Calm down, you'll have the BB soon.
Meanwhile try to get by on that 'bird' those boys with the heater are
    throwing your way.

That BB is 1100cc and my Voyager is 1200cc, I don't know how you can
possibly keep up. That is what you go by, right??

I'll be "going by" quite a bit!!! :)

Heck, you have trouble keeping up with a 600cc motorcycle, or are you
only running on half the cylinders and pacing yourself? :)

I was told this afternoon that I'll be used for everyone's radar
    detector on rides....whatever that means!

    Thats more like it.
Now you have explained that you intend to ''fly'' eastward to pickup
your new motorcycle, and ride back solo.

Previoulsy, to me, maybe no one else, you insenuated you were going over
there somehow with others, to get the bike, and then with others, ride
south into the Smokies, and even invited Tim, to possibly meet up with
ya'll. as you all ride back to Mesquite. (You kept saying ''we'')

Never the less--I wanna say, good luck, and when you get home, post a
    photo of that BlackBird Bike.

You do know how to post photos dont you? If you dont Louie or Red-Shad,
    are good at it.

Un less his BB from the East, has more than 4 cylinders.
And weight does make a difference.
The BB is probably all aluminum.
You do realize the BB will travel up to 185, I read this on some thread,
    some where, by someone.

I am assuming Brian means he intends to park the BB Motorcycle From the
East, inside his hotel quarters that first night.

Maybe to keep it safely away from any sort of ''cold natured odd
fellers'' that he usually encounters at Hotels and Resturants.

    Thats my guess.

BJay sez the Blackbird is all aluminum, I mean all aluminum, not just the
hood like on the Olds Toronado, ALL.
He has quite a few motorcycles now and has owned many in the past.....so he
    no.

Pls pass the metal ? to bjay

No, I mean I'm going to park the room...Louie had it right, I'll drive
    ANYTHING!

Speaking of, my Shadow turned 21 and I had to take the keys
away....now it's legal to drink and I can't have that damned thing
    running around the streets drunk!

As pointed out by others, it would be mighty uncomfortable to be all
    aluminum.

And the technical list for a production version of the Blackbird is
184.5 mph. That's the production off the factory line model as tested.
Mine is none of those. Mine is slightly more.

The modified 'Busa's are running up to 260mph! I'd have considered one
of those, but they're butt assed ugly....I don't give a shit how fast
    they are.

    http://www.topspeed.com/motorcycles/suzuki-hayabusa/ke1989.html

I figured it was better to look damned good, and I can settle for
losing a mph or two...I have an image to uphold you know!

    I dont either?

I like acelleration, like the next guy.
But when I get up around 90-95, in 1/8 mile, I am through.(; '' got me
some adrenlin going, and I am satisfied.

    Too old, to ride very long very fast. (;>}

Where could a feller ride up to 185-260??

    I'll let you know....

I suspect I'll be able to get somewhere around those speeds between
Monroe LA and Mississippi. The highway is flat, straight and not many
cars/trucks. That's one place I'll be going through I can think of
where someone can get to those speeds and ride for a distance. Another
place will be between Atlanta and Montgomery. Most drivers out there
take advantage of the wide lanes and good pavement. The cars usually
pace around 85mph on that stretch. There are plenty of places when you
start riding a bike capable of those speeds. When you ride one, you'll
find it's very comfortable to ride like this. And to, you don't have
to have a couple miles to get to those speeds like you do on a cruiser/
tourer. To get to 100mph on a cruiser/tourer, you'll need plenty of
time and range. On a good sportbike, you only need a few seconds and
about the distance of passing a car to go from a 60mph ride to 100mph.
There's no downshifting, no hard twisting of a throttle and no
worries. Just a bump on the throttle and these bikes will propel. IT'S
    COOL!

BTW, if you get all excited about 90-95mph, you'd just pass out to get
on this Hurricane of mine. I've had this bike sitting on a flat 140mph
on I-30. I didn't have a bunch of way to go, but it hadn't topped out
either. This bike lugs at 65mph and is a comfortable cruise at 90mph.

Taking from Louie again (and I've said it many times too), when I get
a bike I might not do it immediately but I'm going to find out what I
can do on it shortly after getting it. I might not get to the limits
of the bike, but I'll get to where I find out what I'm willing to do
    on it.

I remember those times, believe it, or not.

The Valk has pretty good acceleration.

I guess I am a little bit too cautious, or should I say alarmed to ride
very fast, like in the olden days.

I remember one time we were close to being 100 miles east of Amarillo.
    Big Tony, from Mississippi, said:
"Willie, lets see if we can get to Amarillo, in an hour''.
