as we are about to enter the travelling season, a reminder to anyone going
to those countries in the EEA (not just the EU, so includes Norway & CH).
EHICs have an expiry date. Check yours before dabbling in a bit of
hypothermic expedition. Even if you have insurance they can save you money
e.g. cancelling out a policy excess when used.

    The cards are free from

  3. Yes I spotted that mine had conked out before I went away at Christmas -
not that that it was valid for HK.
Dead easy to sort out - took about 5 days for the new one to turn up.

You are indeed a splendid chap; I don't care what they say.

I probably noticed in passing that it had an expiry date when I first
got mine, but that was it until your post. New card requested.

Pity I'll be in France when it arrives.

Maybe if you had an electronic device that included some kind of
calendar function you could set a reminder.

ISTR mentioning this on here myself, probably around March 2009 as
my current one expires 25/03/2014. I vaguely remember that they did send
a reminder, but maybe I'm confoozling that with reminders for Prescription
Pre-payment Certificates. Of which I'll never need to buy one again...
Bus passes keep sidling out of reach, however...

Somebody definitely mentioned it here before. They don't send a reminder
for EHICs - if it wasn't for my remembering, a couple of weeks ago, the
reminder here last year, I probably would have forgotten to renew mine.
If Wessie hadn't posted his reminder.

    Basically, god bless UKRM.

    Well volunteered!

Better post an address for service of writs relating to costs incurred
    should you forget.

I'd just like to remind you that the EHIC does not cover incidents that
occur on the way *to* the ferry port.

I won't forget anyway. Someone always posts a reminder on the UKGSer forum.
