But that's the odd thing - people don't feel secure in their jobs, but
they're still borrowing, and still spending.

  7. *Ding* on all counts, except the unemployed bit. We were being urged to
go into endowments etc and I simply said that a mortgage was a debt and
it had to be paid off. Dresing it up with endowments made no difference
    except added expense.

Now that's not quite correct then, is it? You've at least deprived a
deserving Financial Adviser of the far bigger commision he would've
netted for the enduhments. Well done, sir.

I've not had to do that. Rates haven't gone up (at all) but they

Oh yes they have. Try w^Hbanking. Far fewer jobs, hardly any contracts

No ethical issues in selling savings products.

Selling savings products to people who don't need/can't afford them is
    different.

I sold myself three endowments. In times of Stock Market Growth,
they're wonderful animals. Of course, when times are less wonderful,
everyone shouts "foul", led by the Daily Mail, in all likelihood.

That, or choosing the most appropriate product for the customer based
    on the commision you get...
As savings products the might well be OK because of their link to the
stock markets, but I'm still unconvinced that they are an appropriate
mortgage repayment vehicle. As we currently see...

I suppose my point was that although the sector is generally fucked,
there is work out there, it's just a matter of finding it, and (at the

    are getting by...
