  1. Oh don't be a such a fucking victim okay? Nothing I said was criticism
    or denigration.

There's still no evidence that the way you quote fuel consumption is
more logical and more obvious. It's just your preference, nothing more.

Some people find it more useful your way and others don't.

I'm quite happy using either, I can easily convert. I don't ask others
to do it a particular way because it suits me better. Suit yourself.

I have heard of fuel gauges on bikes. Haven't heard of accurate ones
    though....

(the one on the scooter sits on "full" till it's used over half the
tank. Then on "dead empty" for a bit, then the reserve light comes
on. When the light comes on, there's still a quarter of a tank left.)

    it's a mutant!

I prefer km/l, all I know about l/100km is "4 is decent, 4.5 is OK,
anything more than that and it's a guzzler".

You're a better man than me JL!
I find division waaay more difficult than multiplication. In fact I can't
really even do mental division; I just tend to do a take-a-guess
multiplication and keep refining it until I hit the target!
Come to think of it; I'm not real good at subtraction either......

how many Kilometers did you push for ?
is that diesel or kerosene ?

  5. How do you use multiplication to calculate Kms/litre?

Actual distance travelled divided by litres of fuel used gives me kms per
    litre

JL's doing a pretty good job of dividing the group with
    his kilometres-per-litre malarky!

Yup! Mine counts from zero to 225, then I fill it up and
    start all over again.

  8. You don't.

    Correct.

My point is there is no obvious logical reason why one system is better.
    Just a preference.

  9. That's the trip metre old son.

Works for me too. Along with that little light that comes on.

Who gives a shit, you made an incorrect assumption based on zero info
about my capability to perform basic maths functions. I told you to ****
off (given you obviously haven't got the foggiest clue about my mental
    ability).
Awww gee shucks, and that's a rebuttal ? Of the two options (which are
simply inverse of each other), one is in-line with how most people I've
met think about their m/c's fuel consumption, and hence is intuitive and
logical, the other requires you to turn upside down the data you get
every time you pull up at the pump. Why make it complicated ?
    And ?
Hey dickhead, I didn't ask people to convert, that was GS, I commented
that the OP did what I would consider more sensible and what most people
    I've met also do.

Aww c'mon Clem, subtraction is easy:
    Drinks beer
Reaches into fridge, hmm there's only 5 left
    drinks beer
reaches into fridge, hmm there's 4 left
drinks beer, reaches into fridge, "aww shit pisshead's been and there's
no beer or wild turkey left" :)

Yah and to be honest more NSW ausmotians I've met tend to be into back
to basics bikes. The victorian ones tend to be into bells and whistles
tourers or sports bikes (yes I'm generalising, but I suspect that a
drawn graph of bike types vs state or origen would support it).
I'm really waiting for transporter technology refilling so I don't have
to actually stop at the servo! [1]
[1] It could get messy if they extended this to the loos and something
    went wrong. [2]

[2] *sung* there's klingons off the starboard bow, starboard bow...

It isn't more exact, mathematically they are equivilent and can be
    converted back and forth.
You know the consumption of your bike _either_ way, it's just expressed
    differently.
True, the Kawasaki Zephyr 550 was pretty ordinary.

Low 2. Lacking liveliness or good spirits; discouraged or dejected.
