While what you say should be true I somehow have doubts about the
intentions of our current government. Details of what we are up to en
mass is just the sort of thing which would appeal to Teflon and all his
    Christian Democrat mates.

Fortunately for us though they are a bunch of muppets. Just imagine the
control they could exercise over us sinful citizens if they had a clue.

    Much more scary.

Yes but not in my name.
I mostly agree and it doesn't worry me much in my day to day.
There is still a principle at stake which we ought to defend though,
otherwise the erosion of civil liberty will become so bad that it really
does affect us in our everyday lives.

This is the point really. When they can swipe yiour card and instantly
pull up all sorts of info. It's not so much the card itself but the
linking of databases which goes with it.

  6. How far do you want to move the fucking goalposts?

All right, then - my old power-valve RD350.

ISTR the 400/4 uses a field coil in the alternator, so unless your one has
been converted to a permanent magnet jobbie, or there is enough residual
magetism lurking around there to induce enough current in the windings to
fire the coils, I can`t see where the leccy is coming from to make it start.

    <back to original sub-topic)

My CB200, like many old, jap perm magnet jobbies, will just start with just
about anything from a dead battery to a Maris Piper spud wired up to the
    bugger.

  10. Nor me. All I do know is that with an utterly fucked battery[1] (as
opposed to no battery at all), it'll start with the kick or, if all else
    fails, a bump.
[1] As in "despairing click from starter solenoid, headlight fading
swiftly to a brown glow and neutral light disappearing altogether"

  11. Well, reliable, as in could be relied on to start, run and get one
there, but bloody short-fused, as in "bores and crank died early".

A little hint - you're getting positively Des-like as you drift off the
original topic. Accept you were wrong, eh? Or you'll make yourself look
    a bit of a twonk.

The original topic was about the disclosure of personal info by ebay to
3rd parties. I should know because I posted the original post.

It was Bonwick who decided to have a go about brit iron vs japcrap.

On the subject of people making a bit of a twonk of themselves, have you
got the list of names of banks which use keylogger vulnerable transactions
    systems yet?

Well I think they are the thin end of an increasingly authoritarian wedge,
but I don't spend much time worrying about it either, as I have lots of
    other stuff to do too.

The fact that we all lead busy lives doesn't change the fact that our
spurious leaders have an increawsingly worrying agenda though.

I'm not obliged to tell anyone anything unless arrested.

Of course failure to comply with a demand to produce your ID card will be
    an arrestable offence...

Well, if I said my name was Ben in a West Midlands accent they'd never
suspect it wasn't me; Simon, whose formative years was in the East
    Midlands.

Whereas with my Sainsbury's Nectar thingummy they'd know I'm not a
"so-called" asylum seeker living in a three bed room council house
    without a driving licence.
